I don't know the story of Paypal and Dreamwidth. Do you have a prior post or link to fill me in?

I have had it up to here (see, I'm waving my hand above my head) with this false concern about child welfare. Child abuse, child sexual abuse, and child pornography are all already crimes. If someone suspects a crime has been committed or is being committed, the thing to do is alert the proper policing agency. That's what's known as "a good use of limited resources." There's no need to shutter free speech rights in order to go after criminals. And there is sure no reason that a private banking company should be telling people what they can and cannot buy. If they think someone is buying something illegal, they can, yes, call in the police.

But I don't think they really care at all about crimes being committed. What they really care about is being able to squelch dissent. How easy to shut people up by first making unproven accusations about their morality! Do it loudly and publicly enough, and then, no matter what the facts testify to, that person has lost credibility, perhaps forever.
