Following The Family Tradition (PR Dino Thunder)
There's a good chance that I'll be offline for the next week (I had someone call hiatus for me on CFUD because I was having trouble loading LJ, for example.)
And just to make this something more than that note, here's a Conner-centric PRDT ficlet to tide part of my flist over.
"Dude. You, of all people, a lawyer?"
Conner shrugged as he closed the thick law book. "It's not what I expected to be doing, but yeah." He looked at Ethan. "I guess I'm going to continue that family tradition, after all."
His parents were lawyers, along with an aunt and uncle on his dad's side. He had to admit that it wouldn't be bad to join the family practice.
"Conner McKnight, lawyer. Somehow, it doesn't quite fit. I thought you were trying to fund summer camps." Ethan took a seat near his desk. "You're planning to make it now 'The Law Offices of McKnight, McKnight, McKnight, McKnight, and McKnight?"
Someday people were going to stop thinking of him as an airheaded pretty soccer boy. Any day now. Of course, Ethan knew that he wasn't that; he just enjoyed teasing Conner as a teammate.
"I guess in the middle of funding soccer camps, I kinda got into the law," Conner admitted. "Brought out my secret scholarly side. It's hard stuff, but I really like it."
It had surprised him how much of a knack he had for the law stuff, like he picked it up by osmosis. He still wanted to get those soccer clubs going, and he still would. Even in the middle of law school.
Ethan stared at him a moment before speaking. "Hey, if that's what you want... I'm behind you 100%, Conner. All of us will be."
"Thanks, Ethan." He knew that they'd still find it odd, but everyone would support him. They were a team, after all.
And sometimes that was the greatest thing in the world.
