Killing muses 1
Sometimes I just get random bits of fic. Here’s one.
Kiriya was furious, to say the least, when he found out. Adachi was quitting? And Hibiki-san had *allowed* him to?
Much as he knew one of them was going to be eliminated, this was stupid! Sure, he was the better student, but Adachi… Adachi had the potential. He was beginning to see part of the reason Hibiki-san was the way he was – but Kiriya still made better decisions than him, and since Hibiki-san hadn’t given up on him, there was no reason to let Adachi go, either. If he could get more stamina, Adachi could get to be a lot less indecisive.
Besides, with Adachi around, he had someone to complain to when the adults were stupid.
Therefore, Adachi was not going to be allowed to leave Takeshi or Hibiki-san, and Adachi was going to be a disciple whether he wanted to be or not. Adachi was going to drop that stupid theater – Kiriya should probably get Amami to get back to Ibuki, too, he could see that now.
He debated on running in there and dragging Adachi away from that performance, but there probably were better times to insult and browbeat his fellow disciple back into discipling. He decided that inviting Adachi over the next time they were both at school was probably best; Adachi wouldn’t be expecting it and therefore Kiriya would be able to win him over easily.

“Kiriya-kun?” Adachi asked, staring at Kiriya with his wide, clueless eyes.
“You heard me,” Kiriya said, folding his arms. He was sure that Adachi was wondering how he was managing any time away from Hibiki-san. “Come over to my house for dinner.”
“O-okay,” Adachi replied, after a moment of staring in confusion. Kiriya grinned.

“Thank you very much for dinner,” Adachi said humbly. “It’s good.”
Kiriya took a bit of his dinner. “Of course it’s good. I made it.” He hadn’t, really, but Adachi wasn’t going to notice the lie. “You learn things like that when you work at a sweet shop.”
Adachi looked over at him, and Kiriya nearly crowed when he saw the troubled look. Adachi wasn’t ready to let go yet, either.
“You would too, if you’d bothered to stay,” Kiriya told him. “But I guess you’re so weakminded, indecisive….”
“Hey!” Adachi said, looking at Kiriya with one of his wounded looks. “I am not….”
“Hibiki-san said something mean to you and now you’re acting like a crybaby,” Kiriya argued, twisting the knife. “If you’d just stood up to him, you’d still be a disciple.”
Adachi looked away.
“You’ll never be able to prove me wrong,” Kiriya told him. “You’d never think to come back and ask him to take you back.”
