Modified loved fanfic meme
This is a very mutated version of the "5 fics (of yours) that you love". Mainly because it's 10 fics and not in order.
The Waiter and the Monster (PRDT), cowritten with Beth Epstein.
Beth and I wrote this fic together. It involves Trent telling the story of how he became part of the team in the form of a fairy tale.
Why I love it: It, as one person put it, managed to put a heavy subject - how Trent ended up a Ranger - into a much lighter story, and it worked. I'm probably responsible for half of this story's hits on inkwell.
Falling (Kamen Rider Faiz)
A missing scene - or maybe an interpretation of an aired one. Kiba Yuji contemplates what's happened as he also contemplates ending his life.
Why I love it: The rest of the fic is great, but it's the last lines that make the fic one that I love.
Telepathic Ghosts/Mistakes (Opposites Attract universe)
These two fics are so intertwined that it's easier to consider them one fic. In one, Adam and the others investigate two new Tomorrow People; the other reveals what happened in the first.
Why I love them: Because I love the fact that I pulled them together so well. Oh there were some wince-worthy places (for example, I was having a love affair with my local cemetery, and it shows), but it's hard to believe that I didn't start the second story before I finished the first.
Goodbye From Where It Hurts (Kamen Rider Hibiki)
Asumu attempts to deal with his feelings about his departure from Takeshi and encounters Todoroki.
Why I love it: It's the only Hibiki fanfic I felt the need to write. It fits in with the canon and also mitigates my frustration with canon.
Over The Borderline (PRTF)
Katie and Trip discover their feelings for one another.
Why I love it: I'm proud of the fact that I took forty prompts and made one story out of them. Mostly it was because I'd never heard of a prompt challenge before, and therefore had no idea how I was supposed to handle it, but I also got through the first couple and realized I was writing a story and not just a set of prompts. It might be a little disjointed because I did the prompts in order, but as heck, it's probably the longest Katie/Trip fanfic on the 'net.
More Courage Than (PRNS)
The Rangers discover a young woman who has the ability to blow up monsters.
Why I love it: Yeah, this story came out of a challenge to write a Mary Sue. But Marie didn't come out as a Sue, for which I'm profoundly grateful, and it at least attempted to focus on someone who didn't rush to save the world. Plus, Marie's still around; she is my character in the New Dawn RPG.
Different Time, Different Place, Different People (PRTF)
Three young people discover they might not be what they seem to be. AU Futurefic.
Why I love it: It was fun to write, and I really liked the characters. Yeah, it is heavily OC, but I think I did well in differentiating them from their canon counterparts (especially considering they're clones.)
Ghetto Wear (PRNS)
CyberCam tries to set Cam up for a date.
Why I love it: I seem to have this thing for OC fics. That being said, I love this because it was a good fic, because it was a story about Cam and the Rangers and CyberCam, but from the POV of someone who has absolutely no clue, and the heroes are not about to bring her up to speed.
The Art of Lying (PRTF)
Trip considers cultural differences, and I attempt pre-slash.
Why I love it: Because it was my first attempt at writing slash fic, and because it shows a pairing that nobody else, to my knowledge, has ever done. (Admittedly, for a good reason: why in the heck did I do Trip/Wes???)
Seeing The Obvious (PRNS)
Kanoi sees the future in the face of his son.
Why I love it: Because there aren't that many pre-NS fanfics about Cam and his father, and because I think I did a terrific job capturing Kanoi's POV, Mac product placement aside.
Runners-up: Dust and Flames (Kamen Rider Faiz), Early Stages (PRDT), Expected Changes (Opposites Attract universe), Kuroonningen (PRDT), Meditation, or Otherwise (PRNS), Perfect Dance (Kamen Rider Blade), The Last Chance to Dance (Earth: Final Conflict).
