First fic of 2011!

This is a (gasp!) Digimon Tamers fic, dub canon (that is, the version that aired in English). It’s set very late in the series. If the word “D-Reaper” doesn’t mean anything to you, then you might want to give it a miss. It’s Yamaki POV, after seeing what the D-Reaper sees.

If Only In Time

Yamaki still had his doubts. The fact that the three kids had merged with their Digimon partners would have been fascinating to anyone else, but Yamaki knew that he’d put them in danger once more. No more were they standing by, directing their partners in battle, but directly moving them, using their weapons.

If only he’d stopped them, stopped the Digimon before it was too late, stopped the kids from their dangerous mission, kept the world safe. But he hadn’t, and this is what he lived with.

He closed his eyes, opened them up again. Blinked. If there was nothing he could do about the kids putting themselves in danger, he could very well save them and the world the best he could. After all, he was an adult. They were kids. He knew more than they did, had more experience than they did.

Squaring his shoulders, he went to help them in the war.
