"Adam? What's going on?" Rocky asked as he hurried into the main room of the Ship. He was slowly getting used to the place - it wasn't quite the headquarters he was used to, but it was at least a headquarters.
And even if the Tomorrow People couldn't kill, they still got into adventures. They still had to save the world. He'd learned fast that the bad guys still hated good-doers no matter what variety they were.
Right now Adam Newman was bleeding worry. Rocky didn't know if the other man knew he was projecting it, for as soon as he saw Rocky, he straightened up and there was no trace of worry on his face. But it was still there. "It's all right, Rocky. You can go back to Angel Grove now."
"Stone Canyon," Rocky corrected. "Remember?" He tried to make it not sound accusatory, because it wasn't Adam's fault and Adam was miserable enough anyway.
How he turned so sensitive he wasn't so sure, but he suspected that it was thanks to the gifts he'd been given.
If he could call them that.
Rocky mentally shook his head. "Anyway, I could pick up emotions all the way back to Stone Canyon, and I figured that you could use some help."
"I'll be...." Adam started, but Rocky interrupted him.
"Don't lie to the empath," he said simply. Adam stared at him. "So, is this imminent catastrophe, or Lisa?"
"Lisa," Adam admitted. "I know she's back, but...."
"You're worried about her," Rocky said. "That she really doesn't want to be back."
"I don't want her to go away," Adam confessed. "She was the second of us, as far as I know."
Rocky nearly chuckled. "And you like her."
Adam just looked at him strangely.
"I'd have to be blind, deaf, and not empathic to miss that," Rocky told him, earning him a blush from the Tomorrow People's erstwhile leader.
"I don't think it's love," Adam said slowly. "It's just... it's Lisa."
"It's Lisa what?" Rocky asked.
"It's just Lisa," Adam said. "Just Lisa."
"Right." Rocky said. He got up. "Good luck, 'cause you're going to need it."
It wasn't a catastrophe. It wasn't even anything he could do. So he left it alone. It was a nice day above, and maybe even Adam would realize it. Maybe.
He teleported away.

Disclaimer: The background of this story belongs to other people. Teresa DeSantos and Lucas Scott are mine, however.
Notes/spoilers: Takes place after "Expected Changes". The character of Lucas is not the PRTF one; I just by complete coincidence named one of my original Rangers Lucas three years before PRTF aired!
Summary: Life shimmers.

In the sun, the water shimmered. Teresa cupped the water in her hands, watching it as if it would disappear. Which it would, eventually. She knew that.
"What'cha thinking?" Lucas asked, sitting down beside her. "You still upset about everything?"
Teresa shook her head. "I know I'll never be... well, what I wanted to be. Well, not again. But Elise is doing a good job. You guys will be fine."
"And you?" Lucas probed.
Teresa looked at the water in her hands. "I'll be too."
"Bull-"
"Language," she said gently. "Besides, nothing to be done about it. Nothing can change what I am now."
"I know," Lucas said, putting an arm around her shoulder. "I just... worry about you."
Teresa laughed. "Wouldn't be much of a boyfriend if you didn't."
Grinning, Lucas said, "Nope. Wouldn't be."
For the first time that day, Teresa laughed.

Speaking Terms

"Hey, Hayley," Tommy says. She thinks of him as Tommy, even though she knows his name is Thomas and he's got a doctorate. Too many years among the Power Rangers, knowing Rocky, have done that to her.
"Hayley? You talking to me yet?"
Oh, yeah. Telepathy doesn't work on him. "No."
"I said I was sorry," he says once more. "I won't underestimate you again."
"That's what you said last time." She's resolute. She's not talking to him, really talking to him, until he understands. She's not fragile; she's done her share of saving the world, and that's even before Dr. Thomas Oliver started talking about Dinogems and Morphers and all that.
"Look, Hayley." He stops. Maybe he's realized something. Probably not. "I know you're pissed off at me. I forget. I'm sorry."
She says nothing. If she does, she'll snap. He's done it too many times, forgotten once again. Not understanding once more.
"I'll make you a smoothie." Footsteps down the hall. She ignores them.
Adam says that he'll learn to learn to listen. Someday. She hopes so.
It hurts too much to last forever.

*squeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
Is the third one before or after that thing we've been working on.
Thomas. Dude, we just never hear him call himself that.
Also? *hee!*
Re: *squeeeeeeeeeeeeee*
I'm not sure when the third one is set. Hayley's still too ticked off at Tommy to tell me....
Re: *squeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

Why didn't Lisa come back for the series, anyway?
no subject
I'm not sure on why Lisa left, but Kristen Ariza just returned back to acting the last few years, so she may have quit acting, thus making a replacement needed. Other TP fen might know.
