Fic: She Likes Him (Opposites Attract)
Mar. 19th, 2013 10:36 amShe Likes Him
Summary: Hayley is dating Tommy. Rocky is getting used to the idea.
"We're dating." Hayley had such a silly grin on her face that Rocky couldn't help but stare. When she'd told him the news over telepathy, he had to come over and check to make sure something hadn't happened to her.
"You and Tommy?" Rocky folded his hands. He knew what most Rangers thought of the Tomorrow People, due to their enforced pacifism. To Rangers, Tomorrow People were one step over defenseless, because they could do self-defense. Not being able to kill was the bad part.
"Yeah." she played with her straw.
He had to wonder if it was Tommy's protective instincts. Hayley had fire, but she had never done self-defense, and even if she could teleport out of the way, Tommy would want to protect her. He supposed Tommy was attracted to both; someone to keep protecting and yet someone who could have her own life. "I guess he's okay."
"He's been teaching me self-defense. I like him." She laughed. "I know he's not a bad guy, Rocky. He leaks thoughts like his brain was a sieve."
Hayley's talent was a little different than his own; she couldn't precisely read minds, but she could read intentions. She wasn't likely to be caught out by a bad deal. That's why he was more suprised than worried. Hayley was a big girl, and she could handle herself.
And Trini would be there for her if Tommy did something stupid. As would he. But as he thought about it, he had to agree. It might work out, it might not, but it wouldn't kill Tommy to know a Tomorrow Person that wasn't him, and besides, at least he'd know what was going on in his former team leader's life.
The twinkle in Hayley's eye told him that she knew exactly what he had in mind, and didn't care.
"I'll be gentle with him, Rocky," she said finally. "Adam would have my head if I didn't."
The likelyhood of the Australian doing any more than lecturing her wasn't high. But Adam had his own problems, and they all had their lives to live. "Yeah."
She sipped at her soda, and he sipped at his, and hoped it would all work out.
