802.11b or g/capture card recs?

I know it's hard to believe that a computer geek's asking for help, but I am.
I've got a PC (2.7 Ghz Celeron) mostly collecting dust in my closet. I also have a lot of video tapes that are slowly disintegrating. My idea is to get a capture card/device for the PC, hook it up to the TV, capture the video, and transmit it over to the Mac (for DVD/VCD burning- the PC can do VCD, the Mac can do either).
Thing is, I'm a Mac geek at heart. What I need is some recommendations on capture cards and 802.11b or g (what we Mac people call Airport/Airport Extreme). Got any?
