Yuletide 2011: Select Fandoms

Writing With Chopsticks (6800 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Mulan (1998)
Rating: General Audiences

Summary:
I posted a lot of prompts in my DYW this year, because my favorite letter last year was full of them and I thought it would be better to overprompt than leave my writer stuck. The person who wrote this managed to include at least three of my Mulan prompts! On top of that, they managed to take what I found important about the original myths and incorporate them into a story that fit in well with the movie's canon. (I am also extremely happy at the fact that my writer seems to be a scholarly sort that wasn't put off by the Mulan portion of my DYW letter being almost entirely about the myths and their importance, instead of about the movie.)

Summary:
I was squeeing so hard at seeing a Final Fantasy II fic on AO3 that I didn't write. I love all the characters of FFII, and so it was really hard not to just say "write me anything!". In this case, this writer took a prompt about Hilda and wrote me this lovely little fic about Hilda and Gordon and how Gordon is getting to be a hero.
And my treat, which I suspect was written by the Gordon/Hilda writer:

Summary:
In this cute little fic, Firion asks Maria to marry him. Now, those of you know how much I ship these two know how much I squeed on this one, because it was my tiny little pairing in my tiny little fandom. Interestingly, I didn't write a Maria/Firion prompt on my DYW letter, but I did state I was a fan of this pairing and it's pretty darn obvious in my fic that I ship them.
Secondly, for those who need to kill time/enjoy fic, here's a bunch of fandoms from Yuletide under the cut. I included any that I'd be interested in reading, that I knew someone on my flist would like to read, or anything that looked like it was a Tokusatsu fandom (including the American offshoots).

When the Emperor recruits Mulan to help China in the aftermath of the Hun attack, Mulan finds that more people than not want to box her into a woman's "honorable" role. She's having none of it.
