I actually changed out the meme a little, as it's interesting but I'm not interested in speculating on my sex life. Instead, I will present trivia.

In case anybody wonders, the word "frustri" in Esperanto means "to frustrate" (in a psychological sense). That was on page 45 of the nearest book, which is my English-Esperanto dictionary. However, that's not a sentence, so let's try again.

"Mu Shu", incidentally, is Mulan (and to be exact, she takes the name "Mu Shu" and not "Fa Ping" in this version); this is from "Mu Lan Joins the Army", a 1903 Peking Opera script and one of the many, many ways the legend of Mulan has been reimaged over the centuries.

I think I'll just steal this meme....

“Name one of my fics in comments (or a scene from one of them) and I will (try to) tell you what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what’s going on in the characters’ heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you’d expect to find on a DVD commentary track.”

Obviously I’m going to remember details better on, say, “Dancing at the Edge of the World” (2011) than “Change of Perspective” (1993) but you’re welcome to ask.

Fic Rec Meme

I just upgraded to WordPress 3.0, and it went mostly smoothly, but the main template for Ghostly has to be fixed. So, while I get that fixed, here’s my version of the self-reccing meme, which I snagged from Jadelennox.

“Post, in your journal, a rec list singling out the best of your own fics. Tell people why you are especially proud of those particular fics, and of course provide links to them. Yes, that’s right, this step involves self-promotion. How else are people supposed to find your fics? List as many or as few as you feel appropriate to represent your body of writing.

Also include a paragraph about the types of fics you most enjoy reading or are most interested in reading in the immediate future — favorite tropes, pairings, fandoms, whatever. If you’re particularly lazy, link to that Dear Writer post you did for whatever holiday exchange comes to mind.

Reply to other rec posts (like for example the one you are reading now) by reccing a fic of your own that might fit the original poster’s tastes, or that you’d just really like them to read, because maybe they don’t know they’d like it.”

Okay, mine are not perfect, but here’s a list of the ones I think of when I am trying to promote my fic. There’s quite a few of them (I’m a tad… prolific?), and I mention a lot of OC-heavy fics.

Kercollapse and meme

And I have finished NaNoWriMo. Yay! (Kercollapse) Now if I'd only managed a complete plot outline for novel #1. *sigh* But thanks to Meg Cabot's little pep talk, I did finish!

In the typo department, here's one that was a bit Tomorrow People-influenced:

"If you two promise to not break out in the car," Emery's grandmother said, "I'll leave you to your fun."

(The funny thing is, Emery can apport - teleport other things - and possibly teleport herself, so....)

Between the full novel and the aborted one, I managed about 65,000 words. Whew!

Now, I'll post the last bit of the novel to

esti_rise at some point in the next 24 hours. I also want to put together all of novel #2's posts (so far) and add them to a master post that can be added to the Queen's Gambit post on

estorise (I have plot bunnies complaining about wanting a rewrite on a fic I've got as a WIP).

I couldn't have done it without the web program "Write or Die". The novel might have been less cohesive because of it, but it got me through. ("Write or Die" is very useful for NaNo. The fic "Worn Down Blood" was also mostly written in "Write or Die".)

Meme snagged from lots of people

I'm grabbing this meme from lots of people.

1) Make a list of 10 characters.
2) Assign each character a number.
3) Without telling anyone who's on the list or the character's assigned number, get questions from your readers about what they'd like to know about them.

IE: "If 3 and 4 were trapped in a cave together with only a blanket and a toothpick, what would they do?"

4) Post the answers and who was who on the list.

(I'm sure I've done this before, but I can't remember when.)

I'm actually doing this with two sets of entries. One is mostly for myself, because I want to be challenged with the characters I used in my NaNoWriMo project last year. One is for the public. Since I'm going to take a page from

germankitty's book and answer before I reveal the people, let me know if you want one or both. (That is, the fandom list and/or the novel list.) If you don't, I'll assume you want the fandom list.

(I'd mention fandoms, but mine are literally all over the place.)
