Apparently, instead of working on fic I want to be working on, my muses decide to be influenced by other fics instead - in this case, the fic "Language Barrier" (Gai/Ziggy) by
borrowedphrases. I wish mine was quite as brilliant (and a little less standard cliched crossover), but I'm going to work on it anyway in spurts and pieces. At the moment, it's pretty PG-rated.
Summary: Gai is sent to another dimension and meets what he thinks is an alternate sentai team.

Gai blinked as the world flashed white around him and he found himself sprawled, face-down, on pavement. Moments ago, he'd been with his teammates, fighting off the latest Action Commander, personally getting ready to swing his Gokai Spear as the opportunity presented itself.
Best to think about that later. He had to find his teammates and see where they were. He took the Gokai Cellular out of his pocket, opening a channel to anybody who would pick up.
But the device seemed content in picking up only static. Gai shook it, hoping that it was just something that Action Commander did and that he'd be back with the others soon, but he'd have to think of another way. What would Don do?
A low growl brought him back to his surroundings, and he looked up. A monster stared at him, and he couldn't help but look right back, wondering what in the heck was going on and why it looked vaguely familiar. It didn't really look like an Action Commander, he was sure of that, but beyond that, he wasn't sure.
All that he cared about was that it was headed his way. He fumbled with the Gokai Cellular, trying to get ready to henshin in case he needed to.
Well, at least his team would find him and that wasn't a bad thing.
He'd brought the Cellular up, ready to go through the motions and push the button when the others showed up. It took him only a moment to realize that the uniforms were the Go-Ongers, but that didn't mean anything, since his team could assume their forms.
The monster fired at him, but the one in the blue suit was soon in the way, keeping the blasts from hitting him. Blue sounded nothing at all like Joe-san as he yelled something in what sounded like English at Gai, probably something about getting to safety. Any sentai member would go and save civilians, after all.
It didn't mean that the situation was any less weird. He scrambled away, enough to watch the fight and see if this team needed him. He might not be a teammate of theirs, but they had to be on the same side.
He felt something grab him from behind. Ugatz! They were trying to surround him, but he knew he could fight his way out. Maybe the monster was a Banki, and the people in the Go-Ongers' outfits were some alternate world team. Not that it had ever happened before, but there was always a first time for everything.
So, he fought the Ugatz while the Go-Ongers fought the Banki. Once he'd cleared the field, he finished his henshin, running to join the alternates. Even if he was in an odd place, there was still a world to save!
