A little bit of Kamendressing-set fic, featuring Koutarou and an alternate Wataru or two and and alternate Taiga.

Koutarou staggered into the place between worlds, sighing with relief as the door closed behind him. His adoptive Great-Uncle - though Uncle Taiga was the one who'd done the adopting, not the other way around - didn't know of the place, which was a relief. Koutarou had run across enough versions of him that he could do without his version.
"Are you all right?" a voice asked as he clutched at his chest, and he somehow identified it as some version of his grandmother's lover. Or husband, apparently, depending on which species one was talking to. An arm was slung over his shoulder, bringing him to one of the many lobby couches.
"I will be." He'd fought Imagin and been hurt worse than he was now. But it was a slight lie; something in him ached as he realized he could barely feel Teddy's presence in his body and mind.
He focused on the person who had brought him to the couch. The clunky bracelet told him that it was indeed one of the Kurenai Watarus that came to this place, who everybody called "Tattered", except for the Taigas, who called him "Darkness".
"Get him something, Wataru. And see if you can find a Mio." The woman's voice was commanding, and certainly one that he didn't want to hear. She came into his field of vision.
"Yes, Nee-san." Wataru spoke with reluctance, and headed towards the door to the place's kitchen.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked, looking him over with her eyes. "And don't lie." She reminded him of Uncle Taiga, which was not surprising, given that she was Taiga. A version of him, anyway.
"I was fed." He didn't mind throwing it in her face at all. His Great-Uncle had said how good feeding would be for him, how it would help his lifespan.
She touched his neck, as if checking for a pulse. "You're not overfed." She looked at him. "But you definitely aren't as low on Energy as you were. That's good."
"What's going on?" a second female voice asked. Another Wataru, a female one.
"Questing." Female-Taiga looked over at her. "Darkness has gone to get something for him - can you see if you find a Mio? I'd rather he be here if I needed him. He's in the kitchen."
"I understand. I'd rather his grandmother care for him." He realized, gratefully, that she wanted this Taiga out of his face as much as he did.
"It seems that he does respond to her best." She looked up at the one named Questing, and Questing left without a word towards the kitchen. "Now, what brought you here?"
"I wasn't feeling well after I was fed, and... I found myself here."
"You should go home to yours and have a doctor look at you." She shook her head. "I'll stay with you until you feel you can get up and go back."
No options. He'd learned that Great-Uncle Taiga was like that.
"Nee-san," Wataru - Tattered - was back. He placed a set of sandwiches in front of Koutarou. "I'll watch over him."
"No." She put a hand on his arm. "I'm sure it's time for you to return to your own home. I'm sure your brother is worried sick."
"I'd rather stay with him. I'll explain it to Nii-san." He seemed to be growing a bit of a backbone, from what Koutarou could tell. "He's family."
"Darkness." She reached out. "He is family... But. Go home."
"Tattered," he protested, and she frowned. "Or just Wataru." He wasn't budging.
"Go. Home."
"Only if you let Questing sit with him when she comes back. You have a lot to do too, Nee-san."
"I do, but family comes first." She glanced at Koutarou. "My work outside can wait. Now, go."
He didn't budge.
"Wataru...." She glared at him, and then softened. "Follow my instructions. I don't want to have to toss you through your door."
Koutarou remembered this Wataru telling him once of how she'd once pinned a note to him and tossed him home, and how he hadn't been allowed to come back for two weeks.
"Just... Questing is a King, too. Remember that." With a sigh, Wataru - Tattered - left, and he was soon alone with Female-Taiga again.
"Eat." She practically shoved a sandwich in his face. "Maybe it will make you feel better. Maybe your grandmother will make you see sense."
And he did eat, but because he wanted to, and by the time Questing came back with a Mio, he was even possibly ready to go home.
