So, apparently Leo and his brother were raised by their father, a Knight. But they have talent in magic. Leo got the title and armor, which didn't make brother Sigma happy. I suspect the subs will go into the thing about Leo pretending to be a Priest or at least favoring his magic over his swordplay. This episode, he gets to go back to being Rodo. I think he'd rather be a priest, honestly.

This episode pretty much went into Leo's backstory (and Sigma's), which explains a lot of the going-ons in this series. I'll be able to tell more with subs, but it looks like Sigma has no scruples in using human sacrifice to save the rest of humanity.

Of a side note, two brothers disagreeing over the older's methods, a girlfriend named Mio, one of them choosing to go their own way, Mio getting killed trying to stop one from doing something bad... I have to wonder if the writers saw late Kiva, because I sat there with a sense of deja vu.
