"So, what does it say?" Kaoru asked. It said something about how much Kouga and Leo trusted her that they were letting her look at the letter at all.

"I'm being reassigned to Rodo," Leo read. "It's orders to report there."

"But you are Rodo," Kaoru said reasonably. She took a peek. Yep, all the things that made Leo a Knight instead of a Priest were still there.

"I guess they're going to give it to someone else." There was a certain relief in Leo's bearing, that he could finally be free of the legacy that had been forced upon him. "And they want me to advise."

Kaoru wondered who would get Rodo, and how long Leo would be assigned out there. Leo had been able to refuse assignment as Rodo as he refused to acknowledge that he was the Knight in question, and had even offered everything back to the Senate.

They hadn't taken him up on the offer before, but maybe they would this time. Maybe he'd be able to come back, but Karou knew that the Senate didn't approve of their relationship, and might have finally found a way to force Leo back to his old grounds. Leo would never acknowledge orders to be Rodo, but he still otherwise obeyed the Senate.

Leo and Kouga weren't stupid enough to hide that from her at least.

At least their child was a boy and so that wasn't too bad. But Kaoru wanted Leo back, and she wasn't sure how to get him back, not if the Senate intended him to stay where he should be.
