So, I started writing fic for Fatal Frame long before I ever picked up a controller. There are some fans who think that you can only truly be a fan of a video game if you've played it (as opposed to watching LPs on Youtube). True, you don't get the first-hand experience watching a LP, but you can still get the important canon bits - backgrounds, plot details, and so on that you need to write fic. Before I got my own PS2, I only played Fatal Frame once - and that was a tiny bit of 3. I think it was Kyouka, but it's been years, so I could be conflating it with the LPs I've watched.
I am no less a fan than someone who's played all four main games and Spirit Camera. I will play all four main games eventually - I'm planning on getting a Wii to go with the PS2 so I can play Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and Deep Crimson Butterfly. I just can't yet.
I'm pleased to say that due to total accident, I have now beaten Limbo Woman. I can't see her to fight her, but I can get her by total blind luck! That allowed me to actually get to the famous Sae cutscene - the one where you see all the dead bodies. And save my game. Next, I'll head inside, get some stuff, take a picture, and head back down. Hopefully, I'll be able to find the door before the Kusabi finds me!
In case you're wondering how hard it is for me to see these ghosts, this is me trying to play through Kurosawa. I can see slightly better than the camera can, but not much! (This is entering the Kurosawa house through saving at the courtyard.)
