estirose: A pixel portrait of a woman (Feeling down)
I haven't seen this one pop up in the Tokusatsu groups I frequent (though I suspect the anime folks on my fl probably noticed it).

YouTube deletes nearly 30,000 files, courtesy PC World. These were clips of Japanese series, what kind is not known.

I did a quick check (since, I guiltily admit, I do monitor at least the Kamen Rider Kabuto clips), and the most recent Sentai and Kamen Rider series (Boukenger and Kabuto) seemed a little bit lighter, but a lot of clips remained. Ditto for at least one or two other series I tried (notably, you can find the first seven episodes of the TV-Nihon Kamen Rider Blade fansub on there, or at least episode 7 remained). I'm going to bet the Japanese auditors skipped video reviews of toys (since they're not copyrighted clips) and might be leaving fansubs alone. Also, obscurely-tagged clips probably survived the purge too.

It'll be interesting to see if Japanese-series fandoms go to another video-sharing site or reclaim YouTube; it might depend on how YouTube complies with the other requests that this Japanese group made. (I'll leave the controversy over whether we as fans should be doing this as a debate for another day and another forum; I'm interested in the community effects that this mass removal might cause.)
