Space Pirate Mito
May. 29th, 2014 06:24 pmI seem to have discovered the weird and interesting anime series Uchuu Kaizoku Mito no Daibouken, aka Space Pirate Mito, and am going very slowly through it (mostly because I have to keep digging for the next episode). Apparently it's still available on Amazon, or at least I can find season 1. Season 2 might be a little harder to find.
Mito is a space pirate on the run from the galactic police. In her true form, she looks like she's about seven despite being a couple of thousand years old. Apparently she's also royalty? Anyway, she landed on Earth a bunch of years ago and fell in love with a human gardener. They had a son (Aoi), who's slowly discovering that his mother is not who he thought she was (a model who frequently works outside the country). It's semi-serious, semi-humorous.
It's definitely got that stereotypical 1990s anime look, which might put people off, but I'm seriously thinking about picking it up myself. If only to end up writing fanfic for a really obscure series.
