Fatal Frame I/III: Miku staying warm
Date: 2014-02-25 05:49 am (UTC)With the heat there and with the Manor gone, Miku felt content. There were no nightmares, only dreams, and pleasant ones at that. No more half-remembered moments about partly-dismembered shrine maidens chasing her, no more nightmares about little boys stuffed in clocks, no memories of Mafuyu disappearing behind a fall of rocks.
Whatever had happened when Rei had sent Reika to her peace had absolved Miku of her guilt, somehow. Miku could hardly complain. She could see now that it was Mafuyu's choice to stay with Kirie and there was no way that she could have gotten him out of there in time.
One of the things that had made her realize was that she had to move on, in a way. She had to find a job besides being Rei's assistant; she had to get money, buy Himuro Mansion, and live there. Rei loved her comforts too much to give this place up, and besides, Himuro didn't mean as much to her as it did to Miku.
But that was a thought for another time, because she was warm, and she was sleepy, and there was nothing to fear from her dreams.
Fatal Frame II: Misao wants to be adopted
Date: 2014-02-25 05:50 am (UTC)Sure, he had no reason to want to change his name or be adopted into their family - there was no family business that needed a heir, and Shizu had a brother, after all. But he'd been waiting to get rid of the Asou surname for a long time, and he liked the Amakuras. He didn't mind being adopted into their family line if it meant that his children might not have the Asou curse.
"Why?" Mr. Amakura asked, "Our name isn't in danger of dying out."
"I have a very embarassing surname," Misao said. That wasn't the half of it. "I'm related to Dr. Kunihiko Asou, and he made a mockery of my family name. I don't want to be an Asou anymore."
The expression on Mr. Amakura's face cleared up, and he nodded. "I... see."
"Dear?" Mrs. Amakura asked.
"I've heard of the man. Mr. Asou is correct." Mr. Amakura nodded at Misao. "I think we should adopt him."
Mrs Amakura nodded. "I understand. There's no shame in wanting a new name in that case."
Misao sighed inwardly in relief. It had been a gamble, but it had paid off. Soon he would be free of the Asou curse and all would be well with the world.
Fatal Frame II/III: Mio's first birthday without Mayu (TW: Suicidal Ideation)
Date: 2014-02-25 05:52 am (UTC)Before, it had always been a birthday for Mio-and-Mayu, but with Mayu gone, it was just Mio. She knew that Uncle Kei was trying his best, but she just couldn't get excited. It made more sense to sleep and dream, for at least she could see Mayu a little bit in that creepy mansion.
"Are you sure you don't want some cake?" Uncle Kei asked. If she looked, she could see faint markings on his arms, markings like her own. But his were a dark blue, and hers were red, the color of the crimson butterfly that danced in her dreams.
"No, I'm fine," she said, and stared at the tablecloth. How could she explain to Uncle Kei that all she wanted to do was go back to bed? But then he'd be worried, and she didn't want him to worry any more.
Uncle Kei was frowning, she noticed as she looked up. She wondered if she should have some cake, just to make him happy. But she couldn't get excited about that. She couldn't get excited about anything. She probably should, but she didn't care. Not anymore. It was like Mayu had taken Mio's emotions with her when she died, except sadness and grief.
"Mio...."
"Maybe I'll have some cake." If she didn't do something he liked, maybe he'd send her back to that friend of his that meant well but just didn't understand. She didn't need a folklorist, she'd just fought a dead one. She needed Mayu.
And if that meant eternal sleep, she didn't mind. She just wanted to be with Mayu, forever.
Fatal Frame III: Rei and Miku discuss the shared dream
Date: 2014-02-25 05:53 am (UTC)"Yes," Rei said. She remembered how it was to move as Miku, to fruitlessly chase Miku's brother, then to see Miku run off after a man who, as Miku clarified later, was a ghost at a different hellgate and shouldn't have been in the Manor anyway. "But only when you were in the Manor. I guess the connection... we were connected somehow."
"Through Yuu?" Miku asked. "I mean, you, I and Kei all knew Yuu."
"That makes sense," Rei allowed.Yuu had known all of them, and she'd had Kei's letters, so she'd dreamed of them once the connection was complete. Still, she hadn't wanted to know about Miku and her brother, or Kei and his niece in the way that she had. She wondered if Miku had dreams of Kei's adventures, or Kei of Miku's, but she was too scared to ask. "I'm sorry, Miku."
"I forgive you, Rei. It wasn't your choice to go into my dream, after all." Miku managed a small smile. I don't think Kei holds any grudge, either."
"I was in you when you were in there," Rei pointed out, wondering if Miku had felt anything when Rei was acting as a passenger in her dream. It certainly sounded and felt dirty enough.
"You didn't ask to be, and it wasn't like there was anything that I wouldn't have told you. I told Yuu what happened, after all." She shrugged her shoulders, a shrug as small as her smile. "It was his way of helping me with my nightmares."
Rei winced as she realized she'd never really asked about Miku's past before she'd had the most traumatic part revealed to her in Miku's dream. "He was a good man."
"He was. But Rei, don't worry about it. I... it's over now. Best to forget about it."
Best to forget about it. She hoped she could. She hoped Miku could, and Kei could.
She didn't think any of them could.
Fatal Frame I/III: Health bar
Date: 2014-02-25 05:54 am (UTC)"It's... hard to explain." Miku shook her head. "When I entered Himuro Mansion, I could see this light bar if I turned my head the right way. I called it a health bar because I noticed it went down after I got hit by ghosts, and went up when I healed or between nights. So, health bar, like you see in video games sometimes."
Yuu smiled a little. "It makes you wonder if we're in a video game, the way you describe it."
"I don't know." Miku shook her head again, clutching the bedcovers tighter. "I knew I was different... but who else has a floating health bar following them around and showing up mostly during fights?"
"I've never heard of that, Miku, but I can research it if you like." Yuu was calm about it, for which Miku was very glad. She wanted to be like Yuu, well-read and thoughtful.
"If you could? I don't want to ever see it again if I can help it." It had gone away when her sixth sense had disappeared, and she didn't want to think what would bring it back."
"It's not a problem, Miku. It's interesting to me. Just have some tea and go to bed."
"Yes, Yuu," she said, thankful that she'd come to live with Yuu and Rei. While Yuu would never replace Mafuyu, he'd never act like she was crazy for what she saw. And she was forever grateful for that.
Kamen Rider Blade, Mutsuki's mom knits slippers
Date: 2014-03-03 04:02 am (UTC)It came in even handier when he became a moody teenager, and even more when that teenager started disappearing for periods of time. By the time he turned eighteen, she'd opened a little shop specializing in knitted slippers because she'd done so many, waiting for him to come home.
She'd found out later that the only reason her little boy had become so moody was because he'd been possessed by a monster and then became a hero. But that didn't stop her from knitting slippers, scarves, sweaters, or anything else. She'd started because she was worried about him; finding out the truth, if anything, meant that she would never stop.
Kamen Rider Blade, Mutsuki dreams of the Spider Undead
Date: 2014-03-03 04:03 am (UTC)Mutsuki never taled about it to anyone, because he knew it was a nightmare and he shouldn't bother people about nightmares. The Spider was gone now, sealed away, not possessing him anymore.
And still, it mocked him about what he did and didn't do, as if it was still there. It mocked him for not being stronger, not being more forceful, not fighting back. He supposed it was his subconscious, talking to him in a way that he'd understand.
It didn't make his nights any easier.
He remembered what it was like to be possessed by the Spider, to be driven to fight, to want to win. Not that any of those were really bad things, not the way he was, but he didn't want to be a pawn. Not of the Spider, and not of Isaka.
Mutsuki sometimes dreamed of a man in sunglasses, and Tachibana-san had told him that was Isaka, who had tried to use the Spider and was used in return by the Spider to find a host. But he didn't give Mutsuki nightmares, the Spider did, even the brief period, the few weeks it had influenced him our outright taken him over.
But at least it was gone, and maybe if he told himself that often enough, he would start to believe it for good.
Kamen Rider Blade, Kenzaki Kazuma tries to keep Mutsuki alive
Date: 2014-03-03 04:04 am (UTC)Kazuma bent over him, trying to cool him down with ocean water, trying to keep him from burning up from the stab wound. He'd been severely hurt by Hajime - no, Joker, it wasn't Hajime who had stabbed Mutsuki.
It was Kazuma's job to keep the young man safe. The young man who had been forced into the whole thing by the opportunistic Spider Undead and Isaka, who was never meant to be a Rider like him and Tachibana-san. Who was on the beach, trying to bleed his life out onto the sands despite Kazuma's best efforts.
There was an ambulance coming, but it would take time to arrive. Ocean water was the best he had, and he applied it as best he could. He had to save Mutsuki; following his ultimate plan would solve nothing if he let the young man die.
As the sirens faintly sounded in the distance, Mutsuki moaned and Kazuma grimly tried to keep him alive.
Kamen Rider Blade, Tachibana Sakuya looks for Kenzaki post-series
Date: 2014-03-03 04:05 am (UTC)Aikawa Hajime was helping in his own way, but he couldn't get near Kenzaki, from what Sakuya had been told, not without the Battle Fight starting again. Not that this was a problem anymore; Sakuya had discussed it with Karasuma-san, and now there were two Undead free; Mutsuki's King and Queen. He hadn't been so keen on letting Mutsuki's Queen loose, but Mutsuki had argued for it, and after all, he'd been the one that had to use the card.
Sakuya wished he could tell Kenzaki this, but he couldn't find the man. Joker. Kenzaki Kazuma was an Undead now, he had to remember that. It had saved humanity, but it hadn't saved Kenzaki.
Everything had led to a dead end, but Sakuya would never give up. Not as long as Kenzaki was around, not as long as Sakuya drew breath. Because Kenzaki had sacrificed everything, and now Sakuya would sacrifice everything for Kenzaki.
Kamen Rider Blade, Nozomi waits during the final days
Date: 2014-03-03 04:06 am (UTC)She wanted things to be over. She didn't want him going to and fro, fighting to save others from monsters like the one who had possessed him. She knew that he didn't have much of a choice, but she felt dizzy watching him coming and going. He never had time to see her.
It was one of the downsides of being a hero's girlfriend, something she'd never wanted to be. She'd always wanted Mutsuki to be more assertive, but not this way. Not through this trauma, this danger. Still, she'd stand by him beause she could and she should, and nothing would ever stop her.
Gokaiger, young Gai imagines his perfect Sentai
Date: 2014-03-03 04:07 am (UTC)"I'd be a pirate!" He jumped up and down to punctuate his excitement. "Because pirates are cool and there hasn't been a pirate team before. And I'd be a sixth member, because they get to do all the neat stuff."
"But if you're in a Sentai, you have to work with others," his mom pointed out.
"Well, yeah. But our leader would be this cool pirate captain, and he'd have an expert swordsman as a first mate and Blue." Gai made swordfighting motions with his hands. "And then there would be a cool lady pirate who really stole stuff, unlike the captain who just wants adventure, and she'd be yellow 'cause I like girl yellows."
"Uh huh," his mother said, but he wasn't finished.
"And the green guy would be a cowardly cook, but somehow we're best friends and he's a really good fighter, and Pink would be a princess. And they all live on a flying pirate ship and fight against this evil space empire!"
"That's nice," his mother said. "Why don't you go outside and play?"
"Okay," Gai exclaimed, and ran out to play pirates and princesses with his best friends.
