So, I started a fic where Shinnosuke may or may not be a Roidmude. It was a plot bunny caused by something on the Wild Mass Guessing page for Drive on TVTropes, where it was speculated that Shinnosuke might be a Roidmude who's forgotten he is one. Of course, it's rather unlikely he is, given that he did react to a neurotoxin in an earlier episode (and now I must figure out Heart's reasoning for this as the Roidmudes think despite this that he is a Roidmude).

Of course, because I had not seen 18-19 until this weekend, I didn't know that 065 was Judge Roidmude. Like all Roidmudes, he's pretty nasty. Which doesn't fit with Shinnosuke's personality as well, but at least I know that 065 is/was a cobra type now.

I thought you'd seen 18-19 and were riffing off it a little, actually, since your picking 065 was really timely. I think Judge fits Shinnosuke the best of the Roidmude we've seen, but the feeling behind Judge was a little more jaded than Shinnosuke usually is.

I think the theory has some things going for it, but I would like to see 001 as the surprise Roidmude, and Shinnosuke being 001 would be difficult.

Shinnosuke being 001 would be extremely difficult, I think.

Judge does come the closest, I agree. I didn't know until the end of 19 that I had come so relatively close, though Judge reads to me as much nastier than Shinnosuke. But given his personality in-show, I could see him picking (a dying) Shinnosuke to emulate and then because of Shinnosuke's personality, forget who he is and just become the policeman. Which Krim uses. Or Shinnosuke could be a different Roidmude, and Brain goofed.

(Or Shinnosuke could be none of the above, and be pure human, and Brain still goofed. After all, he did fall victim to the neurotoxin, as well as the Heavy Acceleration.)

Yes! Roidmude were designed to be able to evolve, which implies that they should not be perfect from the get-go and be able to make mistakes.

Yeah, if Roidmude are drawn in by strong emotions, it's possible that someone could have a strong emotion to not die and essentially emotionally take over.

(Technically I think that would just mean not using the Driviar system (I don't know about the neurotoxin though), so it's still possible that Shinnosuke could be nonhuman.)

It's the neurotoxin more than the slowdown that concerns me. Thankfully, Heart and the others are prone to handwave it as "malfunctioning 065".

Mr. Belt is too busy rescuing Shinnosuke at this point to go into what species Shinnosuke is. Kamen Rider's pulled off the "forgot that I wasn't human" plot before, so it's not impossible that Shinnosuke is like Chase. (Though in this adventure, it's more difficult as he would be using Driviar naturally.)

Maybe a psychosomatic sort of thing?

There's no shortage of similar plots, too. Yeah, Driviar is a big complicating factor, and we can't go the prototype with different energy source route because of Chase. I also think a Roidmude with a different energy source would have problems imitating human dynamicism.

Yes. I think I've figured out some technobabble as to why Shinnosuke could be a Roidmude, assuming Krim can instruct Rinna on how to fix 065 so he doesn't read as a regular Roidmude.

Supposing that Mr. Belt knows this about Shinnosuke and that Shinnosuke doesn't have a problem with it. Or Rinna, for that matter, but I think she'd be okay with it (especially if Shinnosuke was).
