So, my ficspam is a bit delayed this year. 10 fics + some framing, posting randomly instead of my usual 12th-13th because of RL stuff.
This is the first part, featuring Questing (a genderswapped Wataru from Kamen Rider Kiva), Hope Powell (an OC from Starman (tv)), and a cameo from Aya (an OC, also from Kiva). The referenced Musing Way was kind of a prompt comm here on Dreamwidth.
Wataru looked over at the beach area with some approval. She missed the Musing Way, but at least she'd been able to find a place a little like it in some ways, a place where people could enjoy themselves and tell stories.
Next to her, Aya sat in the pool. She was wearing only a bikini that was practically made of strings, since it was hard for her to wear human clothes with what had been done to her by her world's Fangaire. The ocean wasn't that far away, and Wataru knew that Aya would retreat there as needed, but she was grateful for the company for the moment. Soon, others would be there and she'd need to pay attention to them, but Aya was pleasant company.
“Hi, um, this the beach party?” Wataru turned to see a Caucasian teenager whose eyes were nearly hidden by a huge pair of glasses. “I... I have the invitation.”
“Yes.” Wataru smiled at the newcomer, and bowed. “Pleased to meet you. I'm Kurenai Wataru. Or just call me Questing.”
“Pleased to meet you, Questing.” The girl smiled. “Hope Powell. Um, where do I sit?” She turned to Aya and averted her eyes.
“Wherever.” Wataru motioned at the beach. “When my wife gets back, we'll set things in motion.”
“Wife?” Hope asked. She stepped back a little, as if having a wife was unnatural and everything. But she didn't otherwise say anything, and Wataru wasn't about to get into a conversation about sexual preferences, given that she herself was straight.
Hope fidgeted and tripped over something that hadn't been there a minute before. Wataru caught her, and was glad to see that she was confused, not flinching.
“Yes, wife. It's a long story, given that both of us prefer boys, but we're married.” She let the girl go. “Why don't you find a blanket? I'm sure you have a story to tell.”
“Oh, I'm not interesting. Not at all.” Hope gave her a wan smile. “But... I guess I should get a blanket. On a blanket. Er, you know what I mean.”
“Yes,” Wataru said, shooing the girl away. “Go make yourself comfortable.” This time, she was a host, and it was her job to make everything turn out all right.
It wasn't that much different than being King.
As Hope headed off towards the blankets, a girl came out of the hotel-like structure that she was so familiar with. Mio, or a Mio, it was hard to tell in this place. Maybe this was her Queen, maybe not. Behind her trailed Koutarou, Mio's grandchild in some universe, who maybe felt that this was a safer place to be than around any version of his great-uncle.
In any case, it didn't matter.
