So, I posted 12 fics to AO3 this year for my ficspam, because I wanted a mix of new and old! Well, 11 fics and a new part to an ongoing one. Five of the fics were completely new - a slightly shippy Fantasy Life fic featuring Allan/PC, a set of Power Rangers Dino Thunder ficlets posted together, the followup to Mysidia Tower's Shadow (a Fatal Frame II/Final Fantasy II crossover), and the two fics for Unconventional Courtship, which are a second-gen Kamen Rider Ghost pairing and a Stardew Valley Shane & Maru friendship.

There were three fics for Fantasy Life when I started, and with this there will be four. I've made one attempt to write in it before, but I screwed up canon. Oh well! This requires some knowledge of things in the Fantasy Life storyline, I think, but not anything that specifically happens in canon.

I wasn't planning on writing Player Character/Allan, at all. I was trying to think of something that wasn't dependent on me remembering the sequence of events for canon, and I remembered the "barley juice" that you could make as a mid-level chef. So, Tina, the player character avatar, ended up that drink, while Allan and Laura got different drinks. The one that Allan has is slightly lower level than Tina's, and Laura's is very basic. (I have no clue how old Laura is supposed to be in canon, but I'm pretty sure she's not supposed to be drinking alcohol.) I had to double-check all the ingredients because the chef Life is not my strong point. I prefer Tailor or Blacksmith. Still, I think Allan is kind of adorable, though Taylor is even more so.

Summary:

I figured a little challenge to myself would be nice. So, ten four-sentence ficlets about/in the POV of various Dino Thunder characters - I meant for them to be one paragraph each, but that didn't quite happen. They're set during various points of the series, and I tried to write people other than Trent and Kira, really. (I think I did a pretty good job, too - only about half of the bits are Kira or Trent.)

Summary:

Yae has to contend with some visitors that are not of her world, and is not happy about it. Sequel to "Mysidia Tower's Shadow".

This is a followup/sequel to "Mysidia Tower's Shadow", which was Yae and Sae from Fatal Frame II landing at the Tower of Mysidia in Final Fantasy II, and then kind of preventing the Repentance (at least in their time). In this case, it was Firion and Co's turn to land in Minakami/All Gods' Village, and a depressed, somewhat bitter Yae's responsibility to deal with them.

In the first story, I dealt mainly with Minwu's attitude towards sacrifice, which kind of echoes Sae's. In this one, Firion and the others are still grieving Minwu's death as they are on their way to the Jade Passage, and do not approve of what Minwu did to sacrifice himself. I set the story in the alternate universe created by the last story for Yae, and just before the final set of dungeons for the Final Fantasy II characters.

This was a little bit of a challenge for me, because I adore the heck out of Minwu, but Yae certainly does not. I also extrapolated Ryozo's characterization from the first game to anticipate how he'd act as Yae's husband in her home village. I also kind of meta'd how Minwu got to the Tower without hitting Leviathan, and used that as what he also did to get Yae and Sae home again in the original fic.

Summary:

Chiyo can't remember anything, while Gako doesn't want to tell her everything.

Next Gen (next generation) fic set in my Agender Ganma universe, written for 2016 Unconventional Courtship based on the summary for the novel "The Unforgettable Husband" by Michelle Reid.

I knew when the Unconventional Courtship signups opened up that I wanted to write my OCs Chiyo and Gako in an amnesia plot. Since Unconventional Courtship is writing a story based on a romance summary, I chased down this Harlequin one that had to do with character A losing his/her memory and character B showing up after nearly a year.

One of the challenges was that this was set twenty years in the future, which meant that there was probably stuff like DNA matching. I got around it by having Chiyo's DNA read wrong when she was first scanned, which meant that her relatives couldn't find her. Chiyo's biology meant that it was easy to mistake her for a full human. Her backstory is not quite what Gako gives it to be as Gako didn't want to explain that she and Chiyo had become parents!

I originally planned for one of Chiyo's siblings to be the one who comes after her, but plot developments meant that I could stick another character in there that didn't exist when I started plotting. Jeannot is Javel/Javert's child with Shibuya, who he pretty much intimidated into becoming a father. Shibuya loves his kid very much but Jeannot isn't very close to him. (Gako is Takeru's kid with Cubi - the "ga" is part of his name, with the "-ko" suffix - please don't ask, while their younger sibling has parentage I'm still figuring out, and Haru is Takeru and Akari's child.)

Other things on this one include why I have an mpreg warning in the linked fic which can be summed up as "Haru has issues that he decided to resolve by getting pregnant." Long story. I also had problems with spelling "Tenkuuji" as well as keeping everybody's gender straight. Gako and Chiyo identify as female and Chiyo has female sexual organs, while Jeannot is agender/nonbinary and uses they/them.

I wanted to write something a little more "mainstream" for Unconventional Courtship, so my second fic was Stardew Valley. It was supposed to be Maru/Shane, but ever since I read some speculation on TV Tropes about Shane being Robin's first husband, I couldn't pair Shane with Maru. So, I wrote a fic about Alyssa (the character I'd been using as my main for my Stardew Valley fics) having died and Shane showing up at the Farm to help Maru out, because Shane made a promise to Alyssa. It's about grief and obligations, and a chance for me to write Shane being not so grumpy. He also swears a lot in here where he doesn't in canon, because that's the way he went when I had him grieving his friend.

Content Note: This is onesided Malice!Kirie/Mafuyu with a huge power imbalance that definitely counts as nonsexual dubcon for a lot of it. There's also a fade-to-black scene in chapter 2 that borders between noncon and dubcon, and Kirie has an incest kink.

Chapter 10, where Mafuyu gets to talk to Yuu, and Kirie discovers slash. The Malice realizes that Yuu is a great bargaining chip against Mafuyu.
