Where I've been...

estiroseTo celebrate Christmas, my family (well, my mom, my aunt, uncle, cousin (and boyfriend), my uncle's sister-in-law and niece) went to the Wawona Hotel in Wawona, CA, inside Yosemite National Park on Saturday. (We would have left on Friday, but mom and I attended Christmas Eve services.)
It was a very interesting hotel - the room we stayed in was part of the manager's house - it's at least 120 years old. (You can see a 360 degree view of one of the rooms here.) The hotel itself just celebrated its 150th. It had no phone, only two outlets (one of which powered the desk lamps and alarm clock), and wasn't too bad. Quite a change from when mom and I went to our last hotel, Hotel Diva in San Francisco. (Heaven knows what that once was, but it had free wireless internet and served coffee and tea 24/7.)
Here's what I got:
A wall clock from my aunt and uncle.
A set of curtains from my aunt.
Hot chocolate and cookies from my cousin and her boyfriend.
A purse and lotion from my cousin's cousin and her mother.
"Genki Japanese" vol 1 and "Japanese for Busy People" vol 1 from my mom.
A pair of sweatpants and two sweatshirts from my mom.
The only bad thing that happened on this trip is that my aunt's purse, including her I.D., and her 3 day old cellphone, went missing yesterday. (If anybody knows anybody who found a purse in or near Yosemite National Park with a cellphone and a wallet containing the I.D. for a woman from Pasadena, CA, please let me know.)
