Happy Birthday,
tptigger!
I wrote you some fic, too.
Trent watched the water slide down his bedroom windows. It was strange, sometimes, how things had changed. More than changed. To be at Tommy Oliver's place, to be safe and warm, to have his mentor and Hayley finally getting together... it was great.
Even the rain couldn't get him down, especially the first rain of Fall.
Downstairs, Hayley and Dr - er, Tommy - were no doubt cuddling by the simulated fire after an afternoon of repairs to the Lab. They'd all worked hard to get the place straightened out after the last attack, and they still had a lot to do, but it was getting better.
He'd go back to Angel Grove University on Sunday, work on his degree, but for the moment, there was nothing on his mind but how lucky he was to have been a Ranger, to have been cared for. To have someone to turn to when his adoptive foster had turned out to be Mesogog. Even if he hadn't been sure of himself or anybody else at that point, he'd gotten a home.
Admittedly that had been because he was a Ranger; Rocky had been right when he'd said that Rangers tended to focus on their teammates first and the rest of the world after. He had to wonder how many inter-team romances had happened.
That made him think of Kira, and how he wanted her to be with him that evening. But she was all the way across the country, and he felt awkward asking Hayley to teleport him there, expecially since Kira didn't know Hayley could teleport.
It was, as she put it, their little secret. Well, Tommy knew, and Rocky knew, and some of Rocky and Tommy's teammates knew, but his teammates, for the most part, didn't.
Her trust made him feel special, even though he couldn't explain how she had gotten some places so fast sometimes. He hadn't even tried, giving anybody who asked a shrug.
Because it was Hayley. She was special. And she trusted him. He was part of her life.
And it felt good, sitting here in his bedroom with Tommy and Hayley down below, as he watched the rain fall.
