Considering that this episode had an important action debut in it, most of it was very talky. So talky that I needed some help before I could figure it out. I need subs on this one.
The 2008 end was less interesting than the 1986 plotline, despite being the debut of Dogga form (and a hint of Dogga's true form). Dogga himself didn't seem to want to be summoned, and Garulu didn't seem too happy either. It's a beautiful form, though.
The 2008 plotline, however, consisted mainly of 'hero discovers he was fooled by bad guy, putting friend in danger, gets really ticked off and smashes the bad guy with his strongest form'. Nago makes an appeance, still cranky, Megumi isn't happy, and Shima shows Nago a machine having to do with IXA.
Two notable things on the 2008 side are that Megumi says 'fangire' to Wataru (who shouldn't even know what they are), and Kengo says something that may or may not be 'fangire' when confronted by one. I need subs in both places.
On the 1986 side, the story focuses on Otoya having the IXA belt. (We do see the bad guy making an appearance in 1986 briefly, but nobody catches him killing.) Jiro has to explain that Otoya snatched the belt from him. The summary I read says that Shima is suspicious of Jiro's explanation. I hope so. Yuri attempts to shake the IXA gear off of Otoya in an amusing scene, where I think he mentions again that Jiro's a monster.
Actually, most of the 1986 part consists of Yuri following Otoya around (inding a visit to Riki's massage parlor, where Yuri gives Ramon a 1,000 Yen note), Otoya hiding from Yuri that he's deeply sick/injured from using IXA, and a second confrontation where Jiro attempts to get IXA back from the injured Otoya. Otoya refuses, attacks Jiro (after doing a very old school henshin pose), and discovers that he's been double-teamed by Jiro and Ramon. The end has a cliffhanger of an unhenshined Otoya being stepped on by a triumphant Garulu and poked by Bashaa.
Of course, we know Otoya survives at least long enough to father Wataru on his Fangire wife/lover, so presumably we'll see him next week. (Just like we knew last week that Jiro/Garulu would survive the cliffhanger - he's still around in 2008.)
In fact, putting what we know about televised canon (plus the basic fact that Wataru is half-fangire on mom's side), we get the following:
* Yuri lives at least long enough to birth Megumi, and may be alive long enough to raise her daughter. She is, however, dead in 2008.
* Megumi has her mother's last name. Whoever Megumi's father is (be it Otoya, Jiro, or somebody else), Yuri doesn't marry them.
* Jiro actively does want to father kids on Yuri, so he may be the strongest candidate for being Megumi's father. Otoya seems more interested in flirting with/protecting Yuri than bedding her.
* We don't know what happens to Otoya, except that Wataru doesn't seem to know him very well.
* On Wataru's mother's end, she may or may not have been married to Otoya. I'm thinking she was, because he shares his father's surname, not his mother's. If she'd been Otoya's lover, he'd have her surname, just like Megumi shares Yuri's.
* We know Wataru was raised by his mother. We don't know if he knows that she wasn't human or that he's not full. He was raised extremely sheltered, and he didn't know what Rock music was, so I'm presuming that his mother hid him from the world and was a classical music fan who played violin. (He certainly didn't learn from his dad!) Why he was so sheltered, we don't know.
EDIT: Of course, Garulu/Jiro could have taken the IXA knuckle from Otoya in the first scene without any problems - it's not like he didn't know of IXA's side effects!
