estiroseHere's another one of those fics that feature the AU characters of Decade. This time around, it's Mutsuki of the alternate Kamen Rider Blade world. It has a spoiler warning for episode 8, as well as generally for Blade starting early teens. 263 words.

Finally Being Chosen

Mutsuki was so proud of himself, and he knew Nozomi would be as well.
He was finally at Ace level! He could take the Leangle henshin belt and transform, finally doing what he'd always wanted to be, which was a hero. That new Rider might have bumped Kazuma-sempai down, and Mutsuki felt sorry for him, but now he had the power he'd always wanted to have. He wasn't complaining.
Being stuck at King level had frustrated Mutsuki. Being just below the level that he needed to get the belt, to prove that he was a hero, to prove that he was worthy of the highest rank that BOARD had, that had made him wish that they'd just give him a chance. Which was exactly what they were going to do.
Mutsuki was tired of being the highest member of Clubs group and yet not trusted enough to take Leangle's power. To have to wait a step below because Kazuma-sempai and Sakuya-sempai were athletic and he was just a nerd to the company president. But he had been working out, trying to get beyond his limitations. To finally have that recognized was a dream come true, it was beyond his wildest dreams.
His wife had urged him to become more ever since they'd started dating in high school. Nozomi was the treasure of his life, his dearest, most beautiful wish, and he wanted to prove that he could be the bold person she'd wanted him to be. He couldn't wait until he got home to tell her everything and to bask in the pride of finally being chosen.
