My creativeness is odd.
Apr. 23rd, 2020 06:54 pmI seem to be in a bit of a My Time at Portia fic mood for some reason, but that's not what this post is about.
At lunchtime, I got it into my head that I should make a collection on AO3 to spotlight my OC-centric fic, so I did. My main rules were that the OC had to be a main/major part of the story. I discovered that defining OC and major weren't as easy as I thought, but right now I have 65 fics in there.
I set up a few rules:
1. The character had to be a major part of the story.
2. The character had to be an original character from a fandom, not an original work.
3. Genderbends are AUs and not OCs. (Sorry, Kae)
4. Canon characters who have been smooshed into another fandom are not OCs.
5. Customizable video game characters with no canon names were generally OCs.
6. This is for my own characters, and not someone else's OCs that I borrowed.
It turns out that I had a few random Yuletide-style fandoms where inanimate objects were the narrators or main characters, and several other fandoms that were essentially Original Works. I included all of them because they were from fandoms of a sort. Visual Novel characters were a bit trickier; Avery Grey from Hustle Cat did not fall under OC because you can't change their name, but you can rename Mary Sue from Magical Diary, so she kind of fits?
