estiroseCutting because while I don't think anybody on my flist plays, I don't want to spoil friends of friends or random visitors.
The second half of the update came out earlier this week (with a patch on Saturday). They're going to make a further patch because there's a lot of negative feedback from people (including me) about the platforming one of the new missions.
Game-wise, there isn't a whole lot of new stuff. You get access to some new ores that you could only get by processing scraps in a recycler, which is nice. There's a mission that will give you more of a particular monster loot that you need to make one of the higher-level daggers. (I'll mention it now so that people don't make the same mistake I did in accepting a commission: it's the chromium daggers.)
ETA: Apparently you may be able to request said monster loot via Civil Corps commission after you prepare for (returning rich character from Portia) per the wiki, have not tried this yet! It makes more sense to do so after the following mission where you encounter said monsters, but eh.
But story-wise, oh my! You discover the following things:
* One character turns out to be an intelligence agent working undercover.
* The bandit that's been terrorizing your town may not be the actual bad guy.
* There is a Duvos (the bad empire of the game) agent working to sabotage the Alliance of Free Cities by causing people to desert Sandrock. Sandrock dying would be an unexpectedly damaging blow to the Alliance.
* The intelligence agent is working with the apparent bad guy to find out who the Duvos agent is.
Currently, fandom seems to all agree that the spy is likely to be one of the Church members. The name of one of the Church members in the Chinese original matches up with one of the clues and we're all currently debating whether this is a clue or a red herring. ETA: Current thinking is that this is a red herring and it's one of the other Church members.
