What's in the Bowl? I can do fics (of 500 words or less, unless I get really inspired) and meta.
Let Me Know: What fandom, pairings (if you have any), and a prompt. I'd also like to post to AO3, so let me know if that's okay, and if you want the fic gifted to you (I'll need your AO3 name for that if I don't know you).
I can write in: For sure, My Time at Portia/My Time at Sandrock, Fantasy Life (3ds game), Stardew Valley, Slime Rancher (including 2), Boyfriend Dungeon, Fatal Frame I-IV, Kamen Rider Kiva, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. I'm also willing to go for other fandoms if you know that I'm familiar with them, but I may need to canon review.
Other info: I can't write porn to save my life and tend to write gen/very gen-ish shipfic.

"Happy Birthday, Miku!" Yuu said, putting a birthday cake on the counter. It wasn't her twentieth birthday yet, so she wasn't expecting much in the way of a celebration, but she was glad to see that cake anyway.
Yuu and Rei had been kind enough to take her in, and she wasn't expecting more than that, but Yuu was kind, and so was Rei - if she was a bit busy at times - and Miku should have not been surprised that she'd get some kind of birthday celebration. After all, even if she wasn't a full adult yet, she was eighteen and old enough to do more things than the year before. "Thank you so much!"
"It's not much," Yuu said, "But I always liked celebrating birthdays. Did you know that many years ago, everybody was considered one year older on New Years Day, not their actual birth day?"
"And babies were considered one at birth." Miku didn't have Yuu's level of expertise, but she had devoured (though not literally) quite a few of the books on his shelf the first couple of weeks. She was sure being a folklorist wouldn't pay the bills, but if she went into academia, maybe she could get paid to research legends.
"Yep!" There was a twinkle in his eyes. "You've been diving into my books again, I see."
"I love to read."
"And cook, and sew. You're amazing, Miku!"
"Ah, not really." She knew her deflection of his praise was out of politeness, but sometimes she felt it too. But she quickly put it out of her mind as Yuu pulled out a knife.
"We'll wait for Rei to come home... and then we can celebrate. How does it feel to be older?"
"And wiser?" she asked. "I don't know. It'll take a while to figure it out."
Yuu's smile told her he believed in her, believed in everything, and as Miku and Yuu waited for Rei's return, Miku couldn't help but smile back.

They were, once again, on a quest. It seemed sometimes like there was just so much happening - every day they seemed to be sent out on a new emergency, a new quest, a new something. This time it was to Mysidia - the place that Minwu hailed from. Firion wished his friend was here on this journey just so that he could learn more about the town. But Minwu, as usual, was busy trying to save the world just as they were, and couldn't spend time shepherding any of them through a tour of the town.
There would be time to get Minwu to take them again to Mysidia, assuming they all survived this. Just because he wasn't there with them at the moment didn't mean that they couldn't meet up with him at some point.
He, Maria, and Guy - along with all the friends they'd made along their journey - would just have to survive this. He didn't know how. All he knew was how to keep going, maybe rest a few extra hours if he was wounded, trek through so many bits of wilderness until he found the new place he was looking for. Maybe even afford an airship trip, sometimes.
The tent still felt lonelier without Minwu. Always had, even when they'd had others with them, whether it was Josef, Ricard, or Leila. All of them brought their unique energy and their unique talents, but none had inspired him as much as Minwu had. Guy might have picked up more white magic than he himself had, but he was hoping to turn to healing with Minwu as his mentor when all of this was done.
When this quest was over. When everything was over. It was something to look forward to, and Firion may have smiled a little as he went to sleep.

The quest "The Pirate's Wife" is essentially a chain of quests where each person gives a thing they've held onto for years in return for a thing that someone else has held onto for years. While the whole quest seems at times like it's a whole series of contrived coincidences, it is also somewhat of a commentary of how the denizens of the valley have gotten to know you and therefore think they're giving you things in return that they think you'll love.
Let's look at those trades. The first one can be seen as a bit awkward - you may or may not be known for cooking things, but Kent's truly grateful and he wants to give you something useful, so why not give you some nice salt for your kitchen? Gus knows you grow things and probably that you ship flowers (if you do), so why wouldn't you like a rose? You may have chatted with Sandy about how you start your day with TV, and she's got this TV remote that's been sitting around in her shop forever, so why shouldn't you get that? George is truely grateful for his new remote (which, honestly, he needs more than you do), and of course, based on your no doubt friendship with him at that point in the day, and your interest in weird things, maybe you should get this rock that is weird and interesting? And of course the Wizard wants to get you out of his tower, and he probably knows you fish, so why not give you something to make you go away? And of course Willie gives you the final item, a Pirate's Locket, because again, you seem to be interested in odd things.
These gifts all seem to be random, but they all have to do with how your Farmer is no doubt perceived in the game - a busy person who does everything, is interested in odd stuff, and might enjoy a bit of convenience in their day. You give gifts to them all the time (presumably), so why shouldn't they gift you back sometimes? The fact that these people just happened to give items that fit into a quest chain is pure, though wonderful coincidence. It's just friends giving something to friends - for the most part - and if it happens to fit into an entire quest chain, then that's a wonderful coincidence.

Date: 2023-10-13 03:08 am (UTC)I'd like a fic with Stardew Valley, Sebastian/Sam (can be shippy or friendshippy), and the prompt is Sebastian's love for frogs. :)

Sebastian had always liked frogs. It wasn't something that he precisely announced to the outside world, but a few people knew. Sam counted himself fortunate to be among those few.
Sure, Abigail knew too, and from Sebastian's grumbling so did his mom - well, his mom knew he kept frogs, not that he loved them, but it was damn obvious to anybody that looked. Sebastian had books on frogs, on how to identify the various varieties and how to keep them healthy. Just because his friend loved the resources available on the internet didn't mean that hard copy wasn't valuable too.
Sam had probably known longer than most anybody else. When they'd been little kids, the two of them had spent a fair amount of time at that little lake near Sebastian's house. It had been a wondrous place - and for Sam, time away from his own home. He loved his parents, but there just wasn't very much excitement where he lived. Better to spend it with Sebastian, who at least lived in the mountains. Sortakinda, at least. Besides, who else could say that they lived practically next door to the Adventurer's Guild? They'd had so many adventures themselves, just exploring along the lake, looking for gems, looking for frogs, enjoying the nights.
They'd spent so much time lying next to each other in sleeping bags next to that lake, far enough away that they could pretend they were camping. It was natural to discuss their lives, their plans, their futures. Eventually how they fit into each others' futures. Listening to the music of the frogs, Sam could understand exactly why Sebastian loved frogs so much, and after thinking about it, so did he.

Date: 2023-10-14 09:01 pm (UTC)I'd love a KR Ex-Aid fic centering around Kiriya. Could take place early on in the show, or after his return, a study on his relationships with any of the others in CR, or anything mid-canon in general. You're free to pick! ^u^ My Ao3 is

The whole thing, Kiriya thought, was to keep people off-balance. Understanding what was happening with them and then throwing a bit of chaos in their lives could be entertaining, as well as useful. When people were off-balance, they were far more likely to believe things that they shouldn't believe, or agree to things they shouldn't agree to, or mention things they shouldn't have said. This was how he'd gotten his Gamer Driver and Bakusou Bike Gashat. This was also how he found out about Emu - the truth about Emu, anyway.
He'd been honest once. He could be honest, if he needed to, but he preferred those times to be few and far between. That way, things hurt less, for him and for everybody else.
So he smiled and he laughed and he kept his hurt hidden behind his smile, because he was himself and nothing would be better than that.

Maya was a Queen. She'd been a Queen for centuries, dispensing justice as she was required to do. Remove traitors. Keep the Fangire pure. Keep the Fangire safe.
It was a lonely life, but a beautiful one. She did not care for King even though she was bound to him; his temper did not make her happy, nor the idea that she was his. She was not, and never would be. She was far beyond him. Nor did she care really for Bishop, nor Rook; she preferred to operate on her own. She was not opposed to Bishop doing her research for her, but she was the one who was Queen. He counseled that she be with King, as per her duties. She would come together as needed for the sake of her people, but she did not love King. She saw no reason why she should be required to, if she did what she was supposed to do. Rook? Well, he was a barbarian, but she had no choice about whether he was Checkmate Four or not, so she left him be.
Instead, she came back to Dran only when she needed to step away from the human world for a while, and wandered the halls alone when it took her fancy to do so. More often, she was in the world of humans when she was not taking out traitors, for what better way to understand those who would hide among their prey? She was muse to many, terror to some. She loved to play instruments, sing, dance. She loved the more static art, the paintings, the sculptures. She lived her life among humans, always apart but always with a warm smile towards those who created beauty. She was the mystery, the benefactor, the one who fostered the careers of so many artist throughout so many lands.
She was still above the humans whose talents she fostered. She would still take their lives if needed be. But art - sound, sight, beauty - was what kept her going, and what any future child of hers would learn to love, for art made her existence worth every moment.
