Anton wished he didn't have to be so cold and distant to Trent. He wanted Trent to be what the Fernandezes wanted him to be; warm, sweet, and an artist. But to keep him safe, he had to make Trent hate him. And Anton didn't want to be hated.

He'd already failed once; now Trent had the Dinogem, now held what Mesogog wanted. Mesogog had no qualms with killing Trent; and he didn't want Mesogog to kill Trent.

But at least once Trent had turned evil, he stayed away from home. And even as he slipped out of Mesogog's control, he had the sense to be away from there, knew that being around Anton wasn't safe.

When Tommy Oliver started up adoption papers, Anton had quietly helped. Yes, he was missing; but he had good staff who understood things like being discreet and not telling Tommy Oliver where certain information and permissions had come from.

Trent would be safe, at last. Safe from himself, safe from Mesogog. Tommy would take care of it.

And maybe it would take the heavy burden off Anton's soul.
