I love writing Stardew Valley, and I loved exploring the Wizard!
The people in town are afraid of him, for the most part. Rasmodius is keenly aware of this, but he doesn't allow himself to let this bother him. Wizards live apart from society, or at least attempt to, because interference can lead to disaster.
Besides, Wizards live longer than the mundane villagers they protect. Rasmodius has a daughter that he cannot acknowledge, a grandchild as well that may be trained in the magical arts someday. He is not beyond temptation. He is still human.
The family that owns the farm up the path has a touch of magic to them. They always have. Awe is the newest scion of that family, and she is no different. She sees Junimos and has an instinct for magic that makes Rasmodius itch to send her off for an apprenticeship. She might be too old, but sometimes they are never too old.
Besides, the town needs her more than his realm needs her. He does not travel among them often, but he can scry. He can see how much she's turned the place around by her mere presence.
Rasmodius also tries to go out every so often. There are wards that need to be tended to, magical storms that can harm even the most magic-blind. He's seen how they reacted to the very unexpected healing green rain. He doesn't trust them not to panic if they knew the truth.
So he does not make friends. He does not get to know anyone. Because that only causes pain, and sorrow, and maybe even the end of the world.
