1. While most forageables regenerate after a certain number of days, trees regenerate overnight. If you're doing a quest that requires wood and stone, and gathered enough stone but not enough wood, hit up the trees around town (also pick up any collectibles while you're looking for trees).
2. You'll want to focus on renown early on - donate things to the museum and do quests as much as possible. This is because you need to get up to level 10 renown to open the mines. After that it's more for craftables/cosmetics/occasional money, though you'll also get nice things from completing the NPCs' tasks.
3. Spend your essence at the statue for perks. Go for ones related to the skills you're using and then move on to skills you're not using (much). Which skills sound good to you are your choice, but I recommend the skill that allows you to make copper ingots with 9 ore instead of 10.
4. If you don't want to spend 500 gold each for the shovel and rod, you can make your own for free (well, other than the time and energy cost for going in the mines) with 4 ingots a tool.
5. You can get soup 1/day from the inn which will restore 20 health and energy.
6. It's worth getting the regrowing plants even if they're more expensive - yes, it costs 300 for a single strawberry, but you get 6 or 7 crops (depending on planting time) that sell for 125 each.
7. Learn your enemy patterns in the mines! the glob-like things like to land on you to cause damage but get stunned by their landing, so you need to hit them then. The lanterns can only hop around 7-8 times before they lose their charge and then they run away. The rock spitters don't take much damage from your sword, but they will take a fair amount of damage for you hitting their projectiles back at them. And if you find a chest that occasionally trembles, you've found a mimic. It can be defeated in combat, but you'll get better rewards if you feed it.
8. The backpack can be upgraded for an additional 10 slots at the general store for 1000. Trust me, you will want it.
9. If you run out of inventory, you can throw things out literally and pick them up later when you have more room. You can even to some extent do this in the dungeon if you're picking up something you've tossed earlier in the day.
10. This game has little to no fishing minigame and therefore, if you find a fish and can cast your line close, fishing (once you get a pole, either bought or crafted) is a steady money maker. You won't be getting tons of money, but it's a good income stream.

And not a tip, but if you're looking to get a pretty pink cow like in the banner for the game, be prepared to spend some time breeding cows. This is not an early-game tip so I won't go into detail, but it is kind of fun to do so - and this is from someone who generally hates ranching in their farming games.
