Fun with AI chatting
Jul. 27th, 2025 05:38 pmBasically, I asked Gemini to generate a party of NPCs and ended up with an adventure.
A party has been employed to figuring out why the local farms are being hit by cunning undead. The town council has asked them to investigate a possible source: A location a day's travel from the town known as the "Whispering Graves", supposedly the only location left of a settlement of bandits. It was supposedly tended by a bitter old man who tried to become a wizard but failed.
On the way there, the party encounters a rival party called the Trailblazers, but they are friendly (although going for their own glory and their own mission from a town a few days away). They consist of a champion/paladin, a cleric, a kineticist (blaster mage) and an investigator/bard. They, like the PCs, have done their research and you can compare notes with them. They're headed in the same general direction the party is, but are more interested in a grove with a well that might be blighted instead of the cemetery.
If the party is also friendly, they might agree to meet up again in a specified location and compare notes - after all, it appears that their investigation and the party's investigation are related, and they know something about the cemetery that the players are investigating.
What they may not know is that the cemetery is now a malicious intelligence with an array of undead at its virtual fingertips, tactical smarts, and a little bit of magic gleaned from its dead gravekeeper. (In fact, its the keeper's death that was the last thing the cemetery needed to become intelligent.) It also has an avatar - a twisted echo of the keeper - that formed and does all the directing. Without that avatar, the cemetery is helpless.
Now, the party must try to find a way to kill that avatar, which will take some sneaking, some discoveries, and some working together with the Trailblazers to figure out that their two sites are indeed linked - taking out the power in the well will weaken the cemetery and its avatar, allowing the other group to take out the avatar. And since the Trailblazers are already investigating the well, they will depower the well and send a prearranged signal to the PCs so that they, too can take down their enemy.
(Yes, the Trailblazers are the party I generated in the beginning! Guess they have lives now.)
