estirose: Ryoutarou from Kamen Rider Den-O (Ryoutarou Fist - KR Den-O)
[personal profile] estirose

Summary: Marianne gets stubborn from both sides of her family. Set during/after “Mated Pairs”. PG-13/13+

Note: Marianne and her mom Rosemary are longtime OCs of mine, and Rosemary is the “Rose” of EstiRose. I wanted to see if I could get back into the feel of these characters and finish some very unfinished fics.

One Couple to Another

Rosemary watched Alex and Marianne talking softly together in the backyard as she leaned on Liam’s shoulder. Several people had been concerned that Marianne would never find anyone, but she finally, finally had. Kimera hybrids didn’t have the option of being childfree, as much as Marianne had tried, and it was a relief that she wasn’t going to be at war with her own biology. Having kids was how races and species continued, and the Kimera had made sure that they continued, no matter what.

Even if it was extremely tough on the outliers like Marianne.

Because Marianne was an outlier. A square peg in a round hole, because she’d had to be. Her mindset was a human’s because she couldn’t be Kimera for the longest while, and Rosemary doubted she’d ever be. Plus, Rosemary had raised Marianne to think for herself, and her O’Sullivan blood gave her a stubborn streak a mile long, like her father, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Rosemary thought that Siobhan Beckett would have been proud of her granddaughter, had she not died years before, or been brainwashed by Taelon tech.

She thought of talking to her own parents. They had, too, taught her to think for herself. It had brought pain when they’d gone Liberation and she’d declared loyalty to the Taelons, but there was peace between them now, and she didn’t trust the Taelons anymore, anyway.

“What are you thinking?” Liam asked, his voice a comforting rumble.

“She’s an O’Sullivan,” Rosemary said, knowing he’d understand.

“And a Schultz,” Liam reminding her that her own parents weren’t exactly slouches in the stubborn department either.

“Yes,” she said, acknowleging both sides. Marianne came by it honestly as Moira Ni Sullivan would say. She thought of her grandmother-in-law and smiled, and snuggled closer to Liam.
