I have questioncopyright.org on my Dreamwidth feed, because I find them interesting, even if I don’t always agree with them.
Today, they posted up this mention of a torrent website being shut down, and 70+ more websites being seized with no warning. Now, I’m sure few will shed tears for the torrent website, but this is a freaking alarming trend that we really, really, REALLY need to pay attention to, folks in the U.S.
(Incidentally, if you check out Nina Paley’s “Sita Sings the Blues“, you’ll discover how much trouble she went through to get permission to use a bunch of old songs. Why do we let entertainment companies run over our rights? Why does our government let them? Why is ICE, part of Homeland Security, part of the above website shutdowns? Not that I didn’t already hate Homeland Security, its parent agency, with the heat of a thousand burning suns….)
