(It's not tagged as a crossover, because I wanted people to try to see Angus and Sarah as mysterious guest characters, not shun it because the guests were from an old video game. My recipient genuinely didn't know it was a crossover, nor did any of the other people during yuletide.)

Why I like it: I have to admit that I ship Rui/Tsukushi. I wrote this bittersweet fic for Yuletide for another Rui/Tsukushi shipper, because I wanted that scene in the Jdrama HYD II to end with Rui refusing to step aside so that Tsukasa could be with Tsukushi. But my mind was on how Tsukasa would react to Rui getting "his woman", which was mostly being pissed off at Rui. So, Rui wins, but at the sacrifice of his friendship with Tsukasa.

Why I like it: I like fics that deal with Gai and his reaction to his team's different customs. In this case, he's trying very hard to fit in with his team, but he's not sure about some things they do, especially when they - not he - assume he wants to do things because of his desire to be with his team. Which makes this a slightly uncomfortable fic (there's a dubcon warning for a reason), but I like rereading it because it starts to explore the borders of acceptance.

No. It's left to Gentaro, who is a very nice person, but he's a guy. This is a what-if fixit fic (albeit a brief one) about what things would be like if Yuki got the suit instead of Gentaro.

It is a POV switch for that story, but they go together because it's two different versions of family and how they affect things.

Why I like it: It's my favorite fic in the "Harder to be Brave, Easier to Hide" storyline. It's also the story I turn to when I'm very depressed, because it reminds me that things will get better. It's not the fic I'd recommend people start with (that would be either "Harder to be Brave" or "Easier to Hide"), but it's the one that keeps me going.

This new Ziggy isn't very much like the old one - he's more scholarly and curious - but Ziggy's choices affect him and the others, and this is very much about that and how a teenager finds his way in the world.

Why I like it: It's an examination of what life is for an ordinary Orphenoch, which didn't really get explored on the series because of course the Orphenochs were the bad guys and therefore it didn't go into what it felt like to be one of them.
