Intoabar assignment!
May. 22nd, 2024 02:43 pmI am participating again in IntoABar! I asked for one of my characters to be Yuriko from the manga I Want to Be a Wall; the character that got chosen for me is Leah from the video game Boyfriend Dungeon. (She's from the game's free DLC.)
I find this somewhat amusing as both sources merge asexuality with aromanticism. (I Want to Be a Wall does fix this with a translator note in volume 2 clarifying Japanese terms for asexuality; Boyfriend Dungeon continues to get it wrong, which is a continuing gripe in an otherwise fun game.)
Unlike a lot of cases with this challenge where I've got source material coming from two different languages, this one's going to be relatively easy as Yuriko canonically speaks (understandable) English. I chose her for that reason.
The bad bit is that I Want to Be a Wall volume 3 is not coming out until mid-June (for some reason I thought early June when I signed up, whoops); I either have to write this set prior to that volume's events or wait until the final week to post my story, unless I want to contradict canon.
