Breaking my heart, game....
Jun. 18th, 2013 09:58 pmSo, more of Fatal Frame 3.
When last I left, Rei had discovered the Camera Obscura. By the fact that I had to try several times to get my recording to work, I got a lot of experience in the early section of the house.
If you go through the door in the room where you find the Camera, you go down a hallway. This leads you to a room with no entrance, but a spooky little kid hammering red things in a red room. If you keep going around, you'll run across this long-haired woman in red. She scampers away after you take her photo. Going back the way you came, you also get a chance to snap Reika, who whispers "I don't want to kill anymore".
Back to the room and down the stairs. All the other doors are locked, so you have to head back the way you came. When you try, you have an encounter with Mother and Daughter ghosts. Well, Wandering Mother and Wandering Daughter. Mother is far easier to shoot, so I aimed at her and she went down in three shots. She also teleports, slightly annoying. Fighting these two is like fighting the Wii version of the Kiryuu twins.
Head back the way you came and you'll run across the lady in red. She's the author of the Memo in shaky hand, and is lamenting not dying with the rest of whoever died. During that cutscene, you run into Reika again, who tags you in a black-and-white scene.
Once she gets Rei, Rei wakes up and we have a short cutscene. Then it's exploring the house. We find out that Rei hasn't told Yuu's friend Kei about his death. We also find out that Yuu has a Camera Obscura that Kei sent to him. I explored a little bit, checking out the kitchen, the family room, the bathroom, and the darkroom. In the family room, I found Ruri, Miku's cat.
Anyway, eventually I head up to Yuu's room, and oh gads, the cutscene in there makes me cry. It's about two seconds, but it's Rei hearing/seeing Yuu. "Rei, is there something I can help you with?" *Sob*
We do get to read a very neat set of notes of Yuu's about both Minakami Village and Himuro Mansion. Fatal Frame I and II players will recognize them instantly. And then it's off to the other end of the room to pick up the Camera. I had Musty Film from one photo, so I headed Rei downstairs and into the darkroom to develop. On the way there, Miku expressed her concern for Rei's health. Thanks, Miku.
It turns out that you can use the darkroom when you have film to develop, though only musty film. I got a picture of the woman that scampered off. Heading back, I found Miku again, and apparently she will now be researching it. The game teleported Rei back to her bedroom at that point, and I took the opportunity to save using the Camera Obscura that now sat on her desk.
Let's hope the rest of the game goes this well.
