Dec. 2nd, 2013 04:00 pmI have done almost all my Christmas shopping/shipping! Well, about 2/3 of the shopping is done (and the last 1/3 just means walking into a chain store a block from work), and all of the shipping (because that had to be shipped overseas).
Long story short, my parents live in a different country than I do. I normally do email gift certificates from Amazon (or amazon.co.uk) for their shopping pleasure, as it's so much cheaper than sending things via post. This time around, however, my father wanted a specialized American keyboard - briefly, some idiots who wrote some of the linux packages he uses arrogantly assumed everybody had an American keyboard - so I ambled down on my day off and shipped his keyboard (and mom's gift card) overseas. Cost almost 4x as much to ship the keyboard as it cost to buy it. But it's shipped, and I had a nice if bureaucratic time at the post office as they changed the darn customs form last year and so I couldn't fill it out like I usually could. Seriously, USPS, why this customs form in duplicate thing?
Also, have given up and am writing All The Gifts for Yuletide. *flop* My main gift is finished, beta'ed, and posted, at least.

Date: 2013-12-03 01:56 am (UTC)I did not know that, but whenever my family and I have to send something overseas, we don't use USPS but a specific company that goes to that country.
Yay writing all the Yuletide gifts!

Date: 2013-12-05 07:06 am (UTC)(I spotted a cute way to present the last set of Christmas presents while I was at a local drug store the other night.)
Current Yuletide total: 2 gifts finished, 1 in progress, about 10 more planned. Let's see how this goes.
