A Smile For The Boy (The Storytelling Remix) (1163 words) by Estirose
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Sesame Street (TV)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Big Bird
Summary:

Big Bird's friend Mr. Arnold has some memories to share about Mr. Hooper.

This was my assignment! I matched on Power Rangers, but I read the original fic about Mr. Hooper and, well, I couldn't let it go despite not having seen Sesame Street for the last 30 years or so. (I don't even remember Mr. Hooper's death, because I was a preteen at that point.) I got myself a copy of "I'll Miss You, Mr. Hooper" and used it to help with Big Bird's dialogue and understanding more about his mindset (yes, from a kid's book, because there were useful notes to parents/guardians about how to handle the book). There's actually a copy of the book online if you search for it, but it was handier for me to have a paper copy.

I checked the Muppet Wiki to make sure there wasn't a Mr. Arnold, which there wasn't. There was a draft or two where he mentioned that he was related to Benedict Arnold, but that became the part where Mr. Arnold mentions that his ancestors had been there hundreds of years. Mostly because Big Bird wouldn't understand, and Mr. Arnold rambles but not that much. I also tried to figure out what part of the world the Hoopers might have immigrated from - England was a possibility (Hooper is an English name, it had to do with making barrels I think), but the attitude didn't quite suit how the original fic made his parents out to be so I didn't go that way.

A bit of trivia: Mr. Arnold was there for the unveiling/placing of Mr. Hooper's marker, about a year after Mr. Hooper's death.

So, a fic on how Mr. Hooper chose to become a shopkeeper instead of a doctor or a lawyer became a fic about remembering Mr. Hooper because I needed to do some delayed mourning, and it seemed so fitting that it would be a story told to Big Bird about Mr. Hooper.

Where The Wood Drake Flies (The Squirrel With The Table Remix) (306 words) by Estirose
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (Movies)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Amanda Grayson/Sarek
Characters: Amanda Grayson
Summary:

Amanda is still learning control, but at least she has Sarek.

I have to confess, I have no clue where that Funky Remix Subtitle came from - I was testing out a new keyboard, and that was the totally random sentence that I wrote. And because I needed a Funky Remix Subtitle shortly after, guess where that went?

The title itself is about how Sarek is flying away from the nest, and Amanda wants to go, too. I wanted to focus even more tightly on Amanda and her relationship with Sarek, and how she needed to be a part of Sarek's life even as her duties would put her on Vulcan. With that, I tried to focus more on description (not my strong point), mostly on Amanda's perception of herself and Sarek and just a flurry of movement as Sarek is there for Amanda.

Even The Smallest Thoughts Can Change Things (The Slightly Backwards Remix) (402 words) by Estirose
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Power Rangers Zeo
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Katherine Hillard/Jason Scott
Characters: Katherine Hillard, Jason Scott
Summary:

Katherine goes to the prom, thanks to Jason.

I'm so glad that my friendslist doesn't tend to read my Fatal Frame fic, because I used the same device in this fic as I did for "Working Though The Novel" - that is, a story where I start at the end and work backwards! I liked doing it for that fic, and it worked so well here. I wanted to show how things were after the end of the original fic, while also taking a step back to go into how Jason would treat Kat (as an equal, of course, it wouldn't make sense to treat her otherwise), and then back into a tempo-changed version of part of the original fic. I wanted to make it sort of dance-like, where the fic swung around just as happily as Kat and Jason did.

In The Whale (1099 words) by Estirose
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Final Fantasy II
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Summary:

Somehow, they all survive inside Leviathan.

Worldbuilding is one of my favorite things, which is pretty obvious to anybody who knows me. So, of course when I got a prompt about how to survive inside a gigantic fish I had to write it!

For those not familiar with Final Fantasy II, there is a surprise dungeon of sorts. As you're off to Mysidia Tower with your handy-dandy Crystal Rod, you get swallowed up by this whale. After traversing through some passageways that include losing hitpoints (due to acid), you end up in this little 'town' of people who have survived being swallowed. There's some furniture, and you can talk to the people, but there's not much there. The main reason for coming there (actually, you have no choice) is to pick up Ricard, the dragoon and almost the last member of your party. And then you have a boss fight!

There's no reason for any of these people to be alive, and yet you have people walking about. So, somehow they had to have survived somehow. I figured they'd need to cover at least some of the food groups - fruits/vegetables and meat, at the very least. Dairy and grains, not so much, unless they're growing wheat in the garden.

Benny is there because I somehow thought there was a kid in the dungeon but there isn't. Oops. I tossed in a reference to Power Rangers R.P.M. in the form of his friend. Melissa is the straight-haired blonde woman in the wide chamber with the stomach acid, Matthew is off to her right, and the old man with the rod is mentioned (as is Ricard - nobody ever mentions the fact that he's with your party when they're infodumping). Alfred is in the same room as I've placed the garden. The garden is in the middle chamber where the chest is (next to the room with the beds).

Here are some screenshots of the Leviathan people, sans Alfred.

And thank goodness I had a beta, or the rest of the furniture wouldn't have known when the cabinet arrived....
