So, I have a bit where Chiyo and siblings are captured/kidnapped and taken to the Ganma world. Chiyo is very noncommunicative. I was writing a bit where Javel/Javert is tasked with trying to teach some discipline so Chiyo fits in better to the Ganma world, and developed a headache.
Because the characters seem to be male and female, even if they are not in my universe, I have a hard time remembering that none of them should have human gender pronouns. I had Javel refer to Chiyo correctly as someone that does not have a gender, but I wrote Javel with male pronouns. Technically, Javel lacks a gender just like Chiyo does, but is portrayed by a male actor, so I tend to think of the character as he. Chiyo is easier because Chiyo is an original character. (This post was tough enough as it is! While Chiyo doesn't have a gender, Chiyo identifies as female, and would use female pronouns. Javel does not think gendered, and would not use gendered pronouns, so I should not either when dealing with the character.)
