Ants, IKEA, flags, and links
Feb. 16th, 2004 06:41 pmYeah, I know. Eclectic subject. :)
First of all, I put out a Terro ant bait Sunday evening, and it seems to be working. Or at least it's clouded with ants. I'll have to see later on if it actually works. I put out two more in the hopes that the ants will kill themselves quicker.
Mom and I went to IKEA today to see if we could pick up some TV carts that I liked on their website. We did manage to pick them up, and a chair for my living room, and a little cheap plastic table that I've wedged between my bed and the wall. I've put the table together, but not the chair or the carts.
On the way back home from IKEA, I was looking for the old Wooz site in Vacaville when I noticed a flag flying in the rain. Now, post 9/11/01, flag flying is inevitable, but mind you, it was blowing and pouring rain on our trip. Now, I can't claim to be hideously patriotic, but I know the following rules:
1: Never fly an American flag during a rainstorm.
2: Never fly an American flag at night, except when lighted.
(3 is burn the flag when it gets in bad shape, don't toss it, but that has nothing to do with my rant today.)
I have to wonder, does *anybody* in the U.S. besides me and my mom remember these rules?
On the links end, I've semi-automated the CamFanfic page using a PHP program that saves me from HTML'ing every link. I invited the members of the email list to check out the beta version (the old version is still up and is the main page until I catch myself up). I've also automated my links page, but that's less visited, and so less of a hurry.
The only downside is that it only allows you to enter one link. So if you've got a story where there are two equally good sites (like "Building Family"), you've got to link it twice. Ah well.

Date: 2004-02-16 09:37 pm (UTC)It's like, okay, you are going to be patriotic by hanging the flag, but if you are going to be patriotic by hanging the flag, at least follow the rules to be a *good* . . . (patriot?) partriotic American!
::sighs:: That is my pet peeve! If you want to hang the flag, okay. But at least do it properly!
