Plot bunny 0, Esti 1?

I have this Kiva plot bunny. I’m trying to get rid of it by arguing it out. Please bear with me.

“Nii-san’s got me worried,” he confided to Megumi-san. He figured that if anybody would understand, it was Megumi-san. She might offer romantic advice when it wasn’t needed, but Wataru trusted her to at least listen.

“Oh? Why?” Megumi-san asked. A year or so ago, he’d have been confiding things like this to Shizuka-chan, but she didn’t really understand. Even with a public rampage of resurrected Fangire, Shizuka-chan was still relatively clueless about them. Megumi-san’s family, however, had been fighting the Fangire for generations.

“First he disappears, and then… he’s been talking about this girl,” Wataru said. “It’s very strange.”

“There’s nothing wrong with falling in love, Wataru-kun,” Megumi-san said, with a sigh.

“But… but… he says she comes from another world… and that she’s got the most amazing patterning, all over her skin….” Wataru shook his head. He could be as protective of his brother Taiga as Taiga was of him; and it wasn’t like strange girls from other worlds were normal. “Nii-san said it was love at first sight….”

He knew that kind of love wasn’t impossible… and that Taiga tended to be passionate about those he loved, but still. Something was wrong here.

“Nothing wrong with that, either,” Megumi-san said, cupping her chin in her hand. “Is she a good person?”

“I don’t know,” Wataru said, shaking his head. “Nii-san’s gone on about how it’s so great that in her world half-Fangire don’t hide their patterns and are actually proud of being Fangire, and that she’s beautiful and things I don’t understand.” Like how he could sleep with someone he barely knew, and spend hours going on about how wonderful it was to have someone who was so beautifully patterned, and was so understanding of Taiga’s status.

“My only complaint,” he’d told Wataru, “Is that she’s not very… experimental when it comes to sex….”

Wataru had to wonder how his brother had so completely gotten over Mio-san, to the point that this mystery girl was all that he could talk about. That, and how he was looking forward to being a father and Wataru should look forward to being an uncle.

Something was definitely wrong here.

“Hmmm. So, why do you think it’s wrong, Wataru-kun?” Megumi-san said thoughtfully. At least she was no longer defending his brother’s odd choice.

“It’s just that… he was so affected by Mio-san’s death… it just doesn’t seem right. And Nii-san… he wants someone to love him so badly, and what if she’s taking advantage of that? He said that she needed him….”

Megumi-san nodded. “It could be that he’s finally recovering from Mio-chan’s death,” she said. “You worry too much, Wataru-kun.”

“Maybe,” he said, but he had his doubts.

Interesting! I can't help but wonder if maybe that's Decade!Mio (or Yuki, IIRC). Also, it amused me that it took a good 5 minutes before I realized that this was a continuation straight off the original show, since you've got so many AU's and I assumed immediately this would be related to one of those.

(of course, if she comes from another world, there's no reason it can't be related to one of your AU's eventually)

As far as I know, he's canon, she's AU. What AU, she kind of refuses to tell me. Given that Taiga was last seen drifting off with a big grin on his face, I may never have a clue. :(
