This chapter's been driving me nuts, because of the differences between canon!Universe and Discovering the Sun!universe. The Kagami of Discovering the Sun doesn't want to be a Zecter host, the one in the canon Universe wants to be, more or less.
So, this bit came out rather close to the series, except with Kagami using his brain. Still being stupid, but using his brain. Next bit will be a run-in with Gatack Zecter, I think. Except nobody's realized that Gatack can't read Kagami's signature and doesn't recognize him, and therefore Kagami will be beaten up. (I sense another side-fic coming up.)
I rewatched certain episodes of Kabuto. It's strange watching Kabuto after 20+ episodes of Den-O; the feel is very very different. And looking back at the episodes having watched the finale is very strange as well; I get the sense that they may not have made Tadokoro what he was when they wrote this episode.
ETA: I hadn't realized how much the Ryo storyline echoes in the Makoto storyline. One of the things I mention in the part is that Worm!Kagami might have picked up the DNA/personality off of the Ryo!Worm before Tendou killed the Ryo!Worm. But there are more echoes; Kagami wasn't able to save his brother, but he has a chance to save Makoto, so he does it. This is why he's so desperate to try to save Makoto, even though there's a good chance that the boy is a Worm. He doesn't want someone to be destroyed when they shouldn't be, and this time he wants things to go right this time.
That being said, I think it'll be a bit tough from here on in the fic, because I don't think Kagami is willing to take on another Zecter....
