estiroseSince I can't seem to get on the fab_watcher journal at the moment, I decided to compile a random set of titles and their meanings. Here's ten fic titles, randomly chosen from Inkwell, and why I think I named them like I did.
Making One's Plans (Gokusen)
My only (so far) Gokusen fic was given this title because Sawada is making his plans to pursue YanKumi after the end of the JDrama.
But Together (Forever Knight)
"But together, we are stronger" is what ran through my head on this one. It's not terribly relevant to a story about Nat and a bunch of other women spending Christmas together pre-series, unless you think of the idea of the women being stronger by spending time together.
Home in a Breeze (Power Rangers Ninja Storm)
So named because of the portal that got the Rangers between universes. Or maybe "breeze" was an understatement.
My Zecter did *what* to your Zecter? (Kamen Rider Kabuto)
Yes, this really is a title. Yes, this was a crackfic. I had to title it something, and Kagami's reaction to the events of the fic was perfect for a title.
Chameleon (Kamen Rider Blade)
So named because of Kenzaki's need to blend in, thus he is now a chameleon.
The Unknown Night Sky (Kamen Rider Den-O - Koi AU)
Deneb and a seven year old Yuuto are watching the stars, and Yuuto of course wants to know where they are (because he is trying to find constellations). The title comes from the fact that it's night, and they don't know where/when they are.
Furry Children (Kamen Rider Kiva)
Despite the fact that I occasionally mistitle this fic (I've called it "Fluffy Children" and "Fuzzy Children" as well as "Furry Children"), the intent is the same. It refers to Ramon and his vision of Jiro's children, who he imagines would be fluffy, and at the very least furry.
Tag, You're it (New Series Tomorrow People)
The story is so light-hearted that I gave it a lighthearted title that reflects what's going on (which, of course, is a game of tag).
Turns to Dust (Kamen Rider 555)
This thing got retitled a few times, including when I was writing it. The whole idea of the title is a combination of the familiar "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust" and the fact that Orphenochs turn to dust when they die. Since the character is pretty much dust by story's end, it's rather fitting.
That Time of Month (GouGou Sentai Boukenger)
Somebody, somewhere wanted a "Natsuki gets the first period since her amnesia" fic. I thought the title was a natural fit for it.
