Title: Second Son (part 2)
Rating: 8+
Summary: Taiga, feeling sorry for Wataru, comes up with a plan. But Wataru might not like it.
Note: I pulled a random trope off of TVTropes for inspiration. I got "Unwanted Harem".

Second Son, part 2

Wataru and Taiga-kun sat down. "So... how is this going to work?" he asked, staring at the tables of girls. The last group date he'd been on hadn't worked very well.

"Easy," Taiga-kun said, producing a device. "All of them have a buzzer with them. This device'll buzz each one randomly, she'll talk, I'll see how the two of you get along. The lucky ones will get your phone number." He looked thoughtful. "That way, you can choose which ones you finally marry." He paused. "Are you all right?"

"I... never thought I'd be getting married," Wataru said hesitantly. "How do I do multiple wives?"

Taiga-kun shrugged. "However you like. You choose them from the ones that I give you, you get married, have kids. Live a normal life, far away from danger."

Wataru wasn't sure he wanted to cause more Fangire to come into existance, but he let Taiga-kun think that he was cooperating. At least until he could persuade him to either change his ways, or kill him.

"Oh, and Wataru-kun?" Taiga-kun asked. "You're moving far away from Tokyo after you find spouses, so keep that in mind."

Taiga-kun activated his device, and the first girl who came to join them was actually a bit homely, the very stereotype of a nerd with glasses.

"Takahashi Sakura," she said, bowing. "Pleased to meet you."

"Takahashi-san runs a small technology company in Yokohama," Taiga-kun said. "Making, I believe custom semiconductors?"

Takahashi-san smiled. "Yes," she said. "My company is yet small, but I like it that way."

"Wataru-kun makes violins," Taiga-kun said. "I don't know how much technology he uses," Taiga-kun said.

"Not much," Wataru admitted. "I would be happy to leave that to Takahashi-san, if...."

"Nobori-san said that I'd have to relocate if you chose me to marry," Takahashi-san said. "I've been looking for a new place to live anyway. Do you have any objections to Hiroshima?"

"Um," Wataru said. "I'm not sure yet. I've never been outside Tokyo."

"Our mother raised him in seculsion, just in case," Taiga-kun said with a smile. "Takahashi-san, why don't you tell us a bit more about what you do?"

"Kochiyama Mine," the woman introduced herself. "I'm a clothing designer." The woman had curly hair, and an eternal air of amusement. She was the third or fourth woman that Taiga-kun had introduced him to. Watar had to wonder if her clothes had been at that shop that he'd taken Mio-san to. "You need a makeover."

"Um. Okay?" Wataru just stared at her.

"For one thing, you either need a different scarf, or the scarf needs to go."

"Oh." He had a feeling that he and Kochiyama-san weren't going to get along. He exchanged a glance with Taiga-kun. Hopefully Taiga-kun wouldn't give her his phone number.

"Kuramae Yuuki," the sixth woman said, introducing herself wit a deep bow. "Scholar. At your service."

"What kinds of things do you study?" Wataru asked. He was getting better at speaking up.

"Oh, this and that," she said. "I like to rattle academics, mostly in the history fields. It's so fun!"

He had a terrible feeling that she and Kivat would get along just fine.

"And at least I'll be more respectible than my brother. He studies the most ephemeral things...."

Wataru restrained himself from asking if her brother's current field of study was supermodels, and just nodded as she prattled on.

"Hi, I'm Hideaki Kaori," the next woman after Kuramae-san said. Her voice was very quiet, and Wataru had to strain to hear. "I paint walls for a construction company. I like painting murals. I hear you're into the arts too. Music?"

"Yes," Wataru said.

She gave him a shy smile. "I'll cook your meals for you, Kurenai-san. Like a good wife would."

"Um, thanks," Wataru said.

The evening wore on. There was Ishikawa Miyuki, who sang at clubs; she promised Wataru that she'd give it up in return for his support. He didn't have the heart to tell her his budget didn't support a second person. Takanoko Keiko was a doctor who had "a clinic down south anyway" and would love to have concerts in the evenings. Watanuki Kimiko was herself a concert pianist; she asked about possible duets in the future, which caused Wataru to blush and nod.

Then he was introduced to Nakamura Michiko, who worked at a chemist at a pharmecutical company. "Good food comes to those that wait," she'd told Wataru, not knowing that it didn't precisely turn him on. Saito Yuri, who dressed hair. "I can do that anywhere," she said dismissively. "By the way, you need a hair cut."

"Um. Right." Taiga-kun had only smiled.

And then there had been Shoji-san, who was independently wealthy herself and spent time in parks. Kito-san, who worked as a corporate legal assistant, who remarked that he had the most beautiful eyes. Tamura-san, who refused to say what she did, but told Wataru that she thought they'd have beautiful children together.

By the end, they were blurring together, and Wataru was becoming rather tired. As the last of the women left the table and he was done with the food, he blinked himself awake, too polite to yawn.

"Don't worry, Wataru," Taiga-kun had said. "I know precisely who should get your number."

Wataru hoped it was none of the above.
