Adventures in Linux gaming!

estiroseI recently set up a Windows laptop to dual-boot Linux Mint, figuring that it might solve some lag issues with gaming. I also knew from prior experience that not everything was going to run easily, no matter what I did with WINE or Proton. (WINE, for those not familiar, allows users to run Windows applications under Linux.)
The items I tested (under cut) are mostly a random sample from Steam (which has its own WINE implementation, Proton, for its games) and GOG, with two independent installers. I did not even try Origin (which would give me Sims 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition); maybe when I feel a bit more adventurous. For those that don't run but I still want to play I'll boot into Windows.
Interestingly, some of my games played better on Linux than on Windows; my Spirit Scout of Cozy Grove has a bit more bounce to her step, House Flipper does not take half an hour to load, and my builder for My Time at Portia moves faster even though I've got the graphics set higher that I did in Windows.

DreadOut (ETA: On my current machine, it's near impossible to turn using the mouse and I had to use a controller instead.)

My Time at Portia (ETA: Had to disable vertical sync so that the workshop handbook didn't case the game to crash - this is a known Windows bug that unfortunately Proton emulates too well!)
