Archiving is going smoothly! I has some health issues on Monday (thank you body) that basically meant no update but I managed to get stories up more or less daily so far. I've done 12 of 600+ fics now, long way to go but I figure I'll get there.
Two fics are coming up that are going to be interesting to deal with. One of them is an Interactive Fic for Yuletide; I'm going to set up a stub page in the main fic directory that points to the actual IF that goes into a 2nd directory (this is pretty much how the fic itself is set up in AO3). (I also have to put the title and name on said IF, but that will have to be done in Twine, not Jekyll.)
The second is a series of mostly Original Character Power Rangers (a bunch of 2nd gen Rangers), Highlander characters (Greer and Michael from Tomorrow's Future) that is marked as unfinished - normally I wouldn't archive an unfinished fic, but the actual ficlets themselves are finished, so up they go, probably under their original fic titles.
These will both be later this week/early next as I'm trying to stick to my two fics/day schedule.
There are a few reasons:
1. Backup, backup, backup. Ao3 got DDoSed (got hit with a Distributed Denial of Service Attack) and in case the website ever goes kaplooey my fics will still be on the web.
2. I'm enjoying playing around with Jekyll. (I realize that my idea of "playing around with Jekyll" may not be fun for everyone; HTML and CSS do require a bit of coding knowledge, Jekyll itself is a Ruby Gem, which can be intimidating for some folks, and even I'm a bit new to both YAML and Liquid, two things Jekyll uses.)
3. Well, the Neocities subdomain was sitting there, might as well use it!
4. I'm really not liking what's happening at AO3, and even if the first situation doesn't happen again I'd like to have a spare place for my fics.
