Fics in January 2012

estiroseI'm participating in the Inkingitout challenge, and I'm aiming for about 10k of words per month. Here are the fics I wrote (mostly under Estirose), with a note or two about each, along with warnings (I know there's one person on my list who is very triggered by something I'm writing about, and there are probably more.)
I'd post it tomorrow or Wednesday, but I intend to do some much-needed editing on a fic tomorrow, and I'd rather concentrate on my word count next month.
There are three fics posted during January that aren't on the list. "Refuse To Change" (Sapphire and Steel), "All The Riches" (Kamen Rider W), and "Pli Malfacila Esti Kuraĝa" were either written in December or, in "Pli Malfacila"'s case, is a translation of a fic written last year.
Dream I understand, PR RPM, 1230 words.
This, my Alpha's Magical Christmas story, got off the ground after a night of cold feet and grumbling to coworker about same. Which ended up with the original set of RPM Rangers going and sharing some warmth, and not as many cuddles as I hoped.
What Hastens to be Done, Power Rangers RPM, 2660 words.
I intended to write a Doctor K POV of "Elephant in the Room" and it suddenly turned into this darkish fic where the morphers kill their users. I'm still not sure what's going on with it, and I can't decide whether to add parts to it, so it was pulled from AO3 until I figured out what in the hell was going on with it.
Untitled Genderbend Gokaiger commentfic, 175 words
Reka made an offhand comment, and suddenly I had Kae, who is a genderbend Gai (she's quieter, but in some ways just as genki). I want to write more of her, if only to expand and correct something in this little fragment.
Children to be Saved, Final Fantasy III, 344 words.
I was going through Final Fantasy III, and I couldn't figure out who the "Gramps" was who saved the foursome. Then I thought that it might be one of the Four Old Men. And then I wavered because there's not much evidence other than the fact that "Gramps" is what the Old Man who participates in certain later game events is called. So, I wrote about how the Four Old Men saved Luneth and Co, made up names for them, and told a tale that if it isn't canon, I think it should be.
Minor Offspring, Kamen Rider W/Double, 370 words.
My recipient for "All The Riches" made a comment about a line in that story, about Fang having a soft spot for Shoutarou's typewriter. My brain wandered from there, which is why Shoutarou now has a very tiny typewriter with fangs hanging about.
Looks Like..., Kamendressing (Questing), 139 words.
Questing is a genderbent Kurenai Wataru that came from Kamendressing on LJ. She's one of my muses on the DW comm musing_way. I kind of forgot that I was on there and this was my "let's catch up" post. (My other muse there, my OC Marissa MacDonald, had an 11-word sentence that I didn't think was worth linking.)
Evading Cynicism, Gokaiger, 206 words.
There's not much to say about this fic other than it was a quick episode reaction. (Eventually, I will get myself a Gai journal.)
Untitled Final Fantasy II fic, followup to Yuletide, 416 words.
This one will be posted later; right now, it's a story about Maria dealing with being pregnant with a child that's possibly Minwu's, and the fact that his parents have come up to pay their respects to Princess Hilda, making things a bit awkward.
Voyage to Heck, AU of What Hastens, Power Rangers RPM, 393 words.
If you look carefully, you can see this kind of mirrors "Elephant in the Room" (even more than "Hastens" does) in structure, but in this case Ziggy distinctly doesn't want to go back.
Scrounging For Data Power Rangers RPM, 740 words.
This is essentially "Esti's notes about Ziggy's call" in case it comes up in the main "Dreamt-of Call" universe.
Forlasu, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, 100 words, Esperanto.
I wanted to see if I could write a drabble in Esperanto. I also wanted to write a fic where someone wasn't happy about Gai. So I did. This is set early on in 19, where Don is not too thrilled about his new teammate.
In Love With Your Ghost, GARO Makai Senki, 1357 words. Mention of major character death, speculation about the identity of a major villain.
I was watching Makai Senki and thinking about a certain character and how he might be the villain of the series. And how it was possible to be at the extreme of that villain and yet otherwise be a good, nice person who cared about friends otherwise.
Obligation to the Dead, GARO Makai Senki, 475 words. Mention of major character death, speculation about the identity of a major villain.
A lot of the notes for "In Love With Your Ghost" apply here, because this is an extension of that fic. In this case, it's about how honor and love and guilt can come together to influence one's decisions.
Sitting On You, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, 542 words.
The title for this fic in Evernote says "Gai HC" but it's not really HC. It's about Gai getting hurt (the Action Commander burning him rather nastily) and how his teammates react to it, but there's no real Comfort in it, other than the fact that his teammates are willing to fry the Action Commander in question.
Doing It For You (chapter 6) Power Rangers RPM, written under GraVirTy. Warning for Mpreg. 1219 words.
"GraVirTy" exists as an experiment to see if people follow my stuff because it has my name on it, or because of my writing style. (So far, the jury is out, but Estirose gets reviews and Vir doesn't.) It also holds my one genuine mpreg, which is quite unusual because it is Ziggy/Doctor K - I'm sure people are confused as to why I'm writing a het fic that's an mpreg. Trivia-wise, Dr. Park is named after an Earth: Final Conflict canon character, and Marie, a character mentioned in the last two parts, started out life as the answer to a Mary Sue challenge (she fails at being a Mary Sue, but....).
