Stardew Valley 1.6!
Mar. 19th, 2024 12:12 pmJust really quick notes as I started a new playthrough as suggested by ConcernedApe (I'm on all of day 1). I may add more as I play. Trying to stay non-spoilery.
* New farm type! I am so loving it. It may even beat out Riverland (my favorite, yes I know I'm a weirdo) for my favorite non-mod farm.
* Poked at the calendar in front of Pierre's, there are changes! Looks like there might be a new event in Spring and a new vendor.
* The in-game menu sports some new tabs and moves stuff around.
Mod support is... really not there yet except for a few bigger modders. ConcernedApe suggests doing an initial 1.6 playthrough without mods. Which makes sense! Since I have both the GOG version and the Steam version, I'm going to leave the Steam version unmodded and mod the GOG copy.
ETA: I also got the pleasant news that Stardew Valley Expanded mod is ready for 1.6! Still not going to install it for a while because have to play through vanilla, but I know it has some custom shops and I want to see how they are coded to rework Hat Mouse Extra. The list of required mods to run Expanded has dropped, at least. The person who does Expanded got hired to work on 1.6 in secret so he got to do a lot of exciting stuff and his mod works out of the gate.
ETA of ETA: After having examined both the source shops.json (unpacked from shops.xmb) and the ones for Stardew Valley Expanded I'm still in the dark on how to recode Hat Mouse Extra as a Content Patcher mod. That being said, I'm having a wonderful time playing the update.
( Spoilery stuff )
