I can't write kids, I swear

So, I'm taking care of a muse where Heart finds Kiriko and Gou (about 10 and 8 years old respectively) and adopts them because their dad was experimenting on them or something like that. So far I've discovered that Heart is a very clueless parent and doesn't understand why Kiriko and Gou neither want to be renamed nor raised by Roidmude, but I don't remember being a ten year old little girl nor can I get into the mindset of an eight year old little boy.

Since I need to finish up or get farther in Number 065 anyway, I might end up having Kiriko and Gou run away from their would be foster parent and their mom take over. It is kind of fun, though, to see Heart try to raise kids (who are actually older than he is).

All I remember clearly about being 10 is my mom calling it "the big 1-0."

I think Heart doesn't understand how trauma affects people, too. I think he might get frustrated raising them, too. Roidmude seem to mature much faster. I don't think we actually know when the Roidmude were created in relation to Banno's death, though, so it is possible that Heart isn't that much older.

Yes, Heart's pretty clueless and doesn't understand what he's getting himself into.

Kiriko had had enough of the strange man calling himself Heart. She still wasn't sure what a Roidmude was, but she knew that he and the others were what that was. No matter how much she told him otherwise, he still called her AAA.

He came and went randomly, but she was confident she and Gou could get out of there. Her parents had always told her to go to the police if she got lost. Where she was counted, certainly.

If she was to keep Gou and herself from becoming like Heart and the others, she had to move soon. She didn't know what Heart had planned for her, but she didn't care. All that mattered was that she and Gou could get someplace safe.

What kinds of things has Heart been telling them? And what does Kiriko think "becoming like Heart and the others" entails? Ten-year-olds don't always interpret things like adults do, and Heart probably doesn't know that.

How is Gou taking it? He's probably a huge brat.

Heart's telling Kiriko (and Gou, but he's being really annoyingly overconfident) that he'll do what he can to make the two of them like Heart and the others. Kiriko isn't thinking surgery, but she's aware that there is something very scary about Heart's words. Plus, she doesn't like being reduced to being "AAA".

Yeah, being called "AAA" probably sounds really weird to her. And depersonalizing. And Gou is probably going to do something if she doesn't.

Which is a good reason for her to get Gou out of there and find a police station. She's not sure what's going on, but she has to keep her baby brother safe and out of trouble.

(With luck, the two of them will avoid running into any Roidmudes, including 001, who would rather just kill them but it allows him to practice being kind and grandfatherly, or something like that. Also, he's curious as to how to raise mostly-human kids. And he would like to keep Heart happy.)

Kiriko could possibly figure out a way to exploit Heart's expectations of them. I think 001 would be inclined to let them go for some reason, too. He might be able to convince Heart that they could deal with Kiriko and Gou later and that to pursue them now would be a distraction.

She's not quite sure how to do that. Other than stay out of Heart's way so that he gets used to seeing less and less of them until she and Gou can escape.

Yeah. She's scared and doesn't understand Heart either. How's Brain handling this? I could see him being very dismissive.

He's all "what are you doing, Heart, these are human children" and avoiding acknowledging them as much as possible. Hysterically, Gou is parroting him to Heart.
